or knit in a larger size with slightly heavier yarn it makes an excellently warm wrap.

the vine motif climbs from the hem, wending its crookedy way to the center back; a softly pointed, openwork edge trims the sides.

huge thank yous to nan, debbi, and anne (all blogless!) who test knit and made excellent pattern suggestions.

i have lots of photosβ€”the light was beautiful this morning and the stole was flirting madly with the workmen on the job next door. shameless, but blushing like a girl.

  1. oh my gracious,,,, unbelievable,,,, so beautiful,,,,
    I am out of breath!

Must order it before it will sell all out this one πŸ™‚
oh it is down loadable stupid me!

  2. Fabulous pictures! I do love artsy lace shots. I already mentally chose some green cashmere from the stash to knit this one. I’ve got to get it under control, here. I have so many projects lined up that I can’t possibly finish them before I die.

  3. Another beautiful creation. I am trying to keep up with you but it’s hopeless. Perhaps if I just took up knitting full time! Wonderful photos too, the one with the light and shadow playing on the lace is just gorgeous.

  4. By the way, I must say that I love the personification of the shawl in the wind with the workers next door: “blushing like a young girl.” That’s exactly what it reminds me of!

  5. You know…I love the fact that post more than just a few photos. I love seeing the lace in as many different photos as possible. The color is amazing too. It really suits the lace design. πŸ˜€

  6. Oh, what a beauty, Anne! And could any setup be better for knitters to get patterns than the web? Best use of the www that I can think of!

  7. As usual this is just stunning! Already purchased and printing even as we speak. Keep up the good work.

  8. Wondering the same as Barbara and also are both ends equally as undulating? Beautiful either way!

  9. Crap. I had my mind all made up to make my mom the Japanese Feather Stole for her 60th, then you throw this at me? Thanks a lot!

Sigh. I guess I’ll just have to drop out of grad school and knit full time. Would you mind writing a letter to my husband explaining the whole thing? Much obliged.

  10. Beautiful, as always! I think this one is it for me. Your making it really hard to decide though – you know I can only handle one big lace thingy/year πŸ™‚

  11. Lookit her, shaking her goods out in the yard for the whole world to see! I think you’re rubbing off on your handknits. πŸ˜›

  12. I just love all the photos with nature. The color and the pattern are lovely. I still haven’t started the bee shawl – now I want to make this too.

  13. It’s gorgeous! I’ve got to stop coming to your site. I want to knit all your beautiful patterns but I only have two hands, lol! I think this will be my next stole as I finsih up Morning Glory.

  14. I can’t keep up with you! Still trying to dye the right colour for the last stole! This one looks great in pinks, Think I will dye some pink yarn for this one. Congratulations on another wonderful design.

  15. Beautiful pic’s, glad the light was so wonderful for you today πŸ™‚ I especially like the one with the leaves that are hanging slightly over the top of the stole. I like how the green of the leaves “pop” against the rubicund color of the yarn.

  16. Oh Anne, I just had to wipe up drool from my keyboard! lol Your shawl is so lovely! I wish I could knit as fast as you create! Your work is stunning.

  17. Ey yi yi………..every time I think I have seen my favorite shawl, you crank out another beauty. Blocked out, this is incredibly beautiful.

  18. Holy crap. I need that one. I love the simplicity of your designs. Understated elegance.

PS: I am a little jealous of the size of your living room floor. Blocking can be a bit of a pain in my house. At least I have a small spare bedroom that is out of the way.

  19. The new stole is very pretty. It looks like something growing right in the yarn.

Congrats on your new yarn store. I know you have worked hard to get where you are!

  20. so, so lovely. and the color!! I ran over and bought the three skeins she had left yesterday. SUCH an enabler!

  21. Dadgummit, you can get the patterns up in the shop faster than I can even add them to my queue! Hmmm, Honeybee or Twinings, honeybee, twinings …..
