autumn arbor stole

Posted on Posted in patterns

the answer to dressing for changeable autumn days—a featherlight wrap with extravagantly scaled leaf motifs undulating along its length to wear as a cloak, shoulder wrap, or scarf (yes, it’s that lightweight). softly draped it will trap warmth on a chilly morning and at noon, when the sun is high, let the breeze wash your arms as the ends fly behind.

shown above: a hybrid size (tall width/petite length) in the woolen rabbit whisper merino lace, colorway chocolate chambord (just one of kim’s wide range of yummy colors).

shown below, petite size stole, also in the woolen rabbit whisper merino lace, colorway mystic mountain pine. seahorse brooch by perl grey.

kits for each stole size may be pre-ordered by visiting this link at the woolen rabbit online shop.

much thanks to kim who listened to my idea when it was just a bunch of babbling and a six-inch swatch, then jumped right in with the perfect yarn. i love it when someone gets me.
vanessa knit that green stole so fast it made my head spin, and then asked what will be next—don’t you just love her??
jocelyn is right there with her shoring up the effort with her constant helpful input and cheerful emails. i dunno how she does it with kids and a home and dogs and stuff, but she’s amazing.
as always, we owe a large hand of applause to rachel for her proofreading diligence.

alright, i know what you want—more pictures, right?

  1. Wow, look what I find after beeing away for a while !!
This is just georgeous ! I’m so happy for you that all your hard work resulted into this beautiful design. You’re the best Anne !!!

  2. One more beautiful pattern YOU created!! It’s gorgeous again in both colourways.
One day I’m gonna knit one of your shawls….

  3. Great photos of you and the stole. The stole looks great in both colour ways. A brilliant job as usual.

  4. They are wonderful!!! I’d like the pins too!!! Just gorgeous….getting ready to order! 🙂

  5. Wow!! That’s definitely the one my sister is getting for her 40th/Christmas present this year. She finally asked for a shawl and I am more than happy to oblige.

She’s asked for one of the Raven clan yarns and I think it will look utterly awesome!

  6. If i looked even a fifth as elegant as you do draped in a stole, that would be on my needles before you could say “Jack Robinson.” Those are both stunningly gorgeous, but I think I prefer the purple just a squidge more.

  7. I particularly love the purple stole. It reminds
me of my mother. Lavender was her favorite color.
She passed last year and today would have been
her birthday. She would have been 99 years old.
    They are both lovely.

  8. Thanks so much for this lovely new stole. It definitely goes on my list of things I must knit. (Although I want it for myself, so probably have to wait to knit it until after the holidays…

  9. I should know better than to doubt you! LOL I have to admit I wasn’t wild about the short side border in the blocking pictures, but draped around a person, it totally works! Another beautiful piece – already ordered and I might just be swatching this weekend, time permitting.

  10. Oh, Anne, that’s GORGEOUS! My friend Jeanine bought me this as a gift today for making her a bunch of stitch markers. I’m casting on tonight as I was looking for a nice wide wrap for my boss’s holiday gift. BEAUTIFUL!

  11. Nothing like Christmas in September to cheer up one’s spirits!! WOW!!!! Exquisite! Needles…don’t fail me now! Thank you so, so much!!!

  12. oh my oh my.yup – it’s amazing.
this may be my all time favorite.. well, of course there is also twinnings (which I’m knitting) and morning glories which I finished awhile ago.. and Oh Canada that is in my queue…. (I’m gonna be busy..)

yet, the gorgeous flow of the leaves in Autumn Arbor is so unique. wonderous.
    Bravo.

  13. What an eye for design you have! That is gorgeous-there is so much movement in it! Congratulations on another great design (that I will have to knit!).

  14. I don’t know which color I like better!! And both of the shawl pins are beautiful. But best of all is your modelling combined with David’s photography — pure magic 🙂

  15. Ooooh that seahorse is gorgeous!!!

The shawls are amazing. I’m going to be buying the same yarn for this one, I can’t picture it in anything else!

  16. Usually I look at your designs and think “Wow, what a beautiful shawl, sock, etc.” This time though I am thinking, “My word! That is the most interesting wrap I’ve ever seen.” I just keep staring at it – I swear it is moving! I am intrigued and entranced. I must have it. I just can’t help myself.

  17. Anne, you are amazing! The stoles blocked out and modeled are stunning. No doubt that you were onto a good thing with that little leaf pattern….it is beautiful in the shawl!

    That little pin…………sigh……love it!

  18. Absolutely stunning! I love the undulating ripple effect of the pattern and yarn color.

    You’ve outdone yourself again.

  19. Holy moley, Anne, this one is AMAZING!
    (Especially in the green… *sigh*)

I couldn’t see how you were ever going to tame that big, curvy motif, but you did it!

  20. A simply amazingly beautiful stole and photography Anne. Pattern purchased and looking forward to casting on soon. I have recently finished my gale, so your timing was perfect.
