Backfloat
This lightweight scarf or stole features highly embossed stitch patterns that pass from openwork to solid twist stitch and back again as they undulate along its length. The patterning shows off well in a heavy laceweight yarn with some shine to highlight the curving linear elements. While the stitch work is constantly moving and requires a bit of attention, the wrong side rows are worked entirely in knit and purl. The results are worth the effort and sure to attract notice, as the final fabric is rich with texture, but light as air.
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size and drape.

Suggested Yarns: Anzula Cloud, Bare Naked Wools Cabecou Lace, Chebris Lace, or Hempshaugh Lace, Spirit Trail Fiberworks Nona, Woolen Rabbit Kashmir, Shalimar Breathless Lace, Indigodragonfly MerGaot Lace, Zen Yarn Garden Serenity Silk+, A Verb for Keeping Warm Even Tinier Annapurna, or any soft lace weight yarn with 140 to 175 yards per ounce.
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, elasticity, and yardage requirement.
