Irtfa'a Faroese Lace Shawl

$9.00

Although an easy knit, this pattern as written is a disorganized mess.

Scattering the charts out over several pages is the first problem. Not combining all the charts for one section into one, rather than demanding that one switch one's focus between two or three charts is the second problem.

In the section for the "body" with the "large and small feather" patterns is exceptionally bad -- the designer refers to an eight row repeat, except where she refers to 16 rows. She writes out 28 rows of one pattern, then says to knit 72 more rows of that pattern, which one would assume means a total of 100 rows -- but in actuality the stitch count shows that one needs to needs to knit 80 rows. However, that row count is never explicitly stated.

As stated, the knitting is easy; the pattern's muddled, mixed-up design just makes it seem more difficult.
