Winterwood, a featherlight crescent shawl in two sizes (petite/tall), is the happy crossing of paths between dyer and designer—a beautiful marriage of custom color and imaginative composition found exclusively in this project kit.
The shawl begins with a deep lace hem and has short rows through the shoulder area that shape it into a graceful curve. Snowflake and fir tree motifs sweep across its outer circumference while a tumble of garter stitch texture ensures a lovely warmth around the throat and shoulders. Despite its visual complexity, the lace is quite simple and entertaining to work, translating well in tonal variegated yarns. The final result is a stunning composition that offers a warm and versatile layer throughout the winter season.
For one day only—December 31st, until midnight—Knitspot will donate $5 from each kit sale to the Red Scarf Fundraiser Scholarship!
Note: The Winterwood pattern is exclusive to the kit until April 1, 2014. After this three month period the pattern will be released for individual pattern purchases.
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size and drape.
