it’s been a while since we had a new sock pattern—much too long, in fact. so when we introduced our new ghillie sock yarn in april, the first project to go on the needles was the hornpipe gansey sock for our BNK club.

but, i thought, we should have a sock for ghillie that everyone can have access to, since the yarn is so well suited to sock knitting. with its uniquely resilient shape and bouncy crimp, cheviot wicks away moisture, wears like iron, and is a pleasure to knit with.

soaking and blocking allows the fiber to bloom and bring the stitches together into a dense, soft, cohesive fabric surface with a light, airy hand that keeps feet warm and dry.

the smooth, 3-ply yarn offers crisp stitch definition, perfect for showing of knit/purl combinations (my favorite for sock fabrics).

as with almost all of our socks, this one is multi-sized to fit any member of the family and  has a tailored, unisex appeal.

many, many thanks to our good friends helen and carol who test knit the sock pattern; helen knit the lovely green version of jazz strings and shared her photos with us, too!

have a great weekend everyone and be sure to share your progress on this and all your knitspot projects in our wonderfully fun and helpful knitspot ravelry groups.

and don’t forget, signups are open now for our fall in full color 2013 club, due to begin mailing in august (which is right around the corner!). we’ll be shipping an incredible array of yarn and pattern selections in luscious, exclusive colors available only to yarn members—once that head count is final, there won’t be any more dyed until next year.

we’d love for you to join us! need a little more encouragement? take a look at this beautiful slide show that erica put together from last year’s club book. and if you’ve already signed up, please tell a friend how much you enjoy your participation—maybe they’ll com along for the ride.
