matterhorn mitts, hat, and scarf

Posted on Posted in patterns

got an emergency christmas gift you need to knit? or maybe you’re finally getting real about your knitted gift list with just two weeks remaining before the big day?
(sorry dudes—but i’m doing the same thing today, if that makes you feel better).

well, here’s a set of patterns that might offer solutions—three pieces, four sizes, knits up real fast, appealing for lots of recipients—does that about cover it?

oh yes, and it’s fun knitting that travels well when you have plenty else to do. i bet some of you could knit this in your sleep (or at least, in a shopping-induced coma).

shown above: size small hat and medium mitts in yummy briar rose charity, colorway cranberries

scarf is in one size, shown above, pinned with a brooch from perl grey

chris at briar rose sent a bundle of her charity worsted weight yarn cranberry-red yarn a couple years ago for me to knit david a christmas sweater. this set is knit with leftovers, which were just enough for a special, last-minute binge knit of fun winter accessories. it’s a gift that just keeps giving; thank you chris!
(chris adds that she will be piling yarn into her online shop next week when she returns from this weekend’s show in ann arbor.)

  1. Anne these look wonderful, but can I complement you even more on the choice of colour? The scarf and hat make your complexion GLOW! You look marvellous and I’m flying over to purchase the patterns as soon as I hit submit. Thanks again for all the wonderful work

  2. Ooohh….I really really like this set…I think it’s my favorite one yet!

I agree, that is the perfect color on you. 🙂

  3. You look stunning in this colorway! But I have to say that the awesomeness of these patterns does not do well for the people on my list–I want to knit them all for myself!

  4. Oh dear, here I was coming out of lurkage to say what a wonderful colour that is on you – but it turns out I’ve been scooped!! (still, great colour, and really nice pattern 🙂 )

  5. BEAUTIFUL – – thanks Anne!!!! Very beautiful and yahoo – I just ordered the pattern!!!! (brrrr…..it’s been chilly here in Oregon ….)

  6. Anne, this was just the thing. I was sitting in my knitting room where my chair is right next to a window that loves to let cold air in when it is windy. I went to your website, saw this set and it was the perfect thing! I have one mitt done and the second half way. Nothing like chilly hands to make you productive! My gift knitting was put aside but fortunately due to this great pattern, it won’t take long to get back to it. This pattern is so fast I can probably fit in a set for someone before Christmas!! Thanks for your consistently great patterns!!

  7. OH, something else beautiful..I must live forever..my list of things to knit is very, very long!
I’m still hoping for that “flaming desire” sock pattern. Sorry, I missed out on the club..that yarn color was really wonderful..my favorite color family, but I will settle for the pattern!
    Coming soon??

  8. May I just add my voice to the chorus repeating that the lipstick choice is an inspired touch in the photos? Oh, and the knitwear is delectable, as always!

  9. LOVE!! The greys of your clothing especially set off the beautiful cranberry shades, tres elegant. And, of course, the lipstick . . .

  10. As others have said, you look great in that color. The pictures made me think of a flapper from the 1920s. Well done, as usual! Happy Holidays!
