monday is wash day

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

ok, so i don’t DO wash . . . and i’m not even home on monday. but i did spend half of sunday blocking the two shawls; it took a LOT longer than i thought it would and i’m very glad i did not attempt it saturday evening. and even though my fingertips are bruised from pushing pins into carpet (trust me, don’t test it unless you absolutely have nothing better to do with your fingers later on), i still feel proud:

beckie and kris came over in the afternoon to knit and we worked together til about 5 pm, chatting and making progress. i wish i had taken pictures of kris’ cable-and-seed-stitch vest from folk vests; it’s adorable. beckie and worked on socks, mine are for david from the tweed romney yarn i spun a couple of weeks ago

and then, my dear friend nancy mcD sent me a lovely email with a really cool link from berocco’s newsletter about Pitti Filati – Spring/Summer, a ridiculoously awesome show of lace work, both functional and strictly artistic. the lace tire treads floored me (broooklyyynne!!). and there were church windows, architecture, and of course, clothing, all in lace stitches. if you care about lace knitting even a little, you must click and tour. now go! vamos!
