everyone needs a good traveling companion and for me, the longjohn socks have played that role nicely this month, when david hasn’t been along for the trip. worked in a knit/purl pattern so easy it does not require a chart, these socks can be tucked in a pocket or purse to take along on any excursion, short or long.
and i haven’t even mentioned yet how cozy-warm they areβjust like real longjohns for your feet, yum. the thermal rib stitch traps warmth right where you need it for these last chilly days of winter.

shown below: size small in shalimar yarns zoe sock, colorway catalina.

kristi johnson’s beautiful, hand dyed shalimar yarns can be found at many local and online retailers, including her own eleganza yarn shop in frederick, MD. you can also see them on ravelry.
kristi and paul have become wonderful friends and i hope that we have many more collaborations together in the future!

I am enthralled by the white counterpane underfoot. Please tell me if you made it and what pattern was used. It’s beautiful.
Judy
Thanks for another great pattern!
Oh, hooray!
I’ve been waiting and waiting for this perfect pattern. Thanks so much. I’ll have to wait until Friday to buy it, but it makes me glad to know that it will be waiting for me!
The socks are great, but OMG is that a nuppy blanket?
YAY! I can’t wait to cast on. It looks like so much fun to knit! π
These are so super! The foot models are top-notch too!
Lovely sock–looks cozy. Also, “Sprossling” is the feautured pattern of the One Planet newsletter! Congrats Anne!
I love that sock!
Judi: it looks to me like the Queen Silvia pattern from Knitted Lace of Estonia, done on a worsted weight yarn. I love it, too, and it does show off the sock very nicely. I would never have thought to photograph a variegated, textured sock on a textured background… which just goes to show how much I still have to learn about photography!
Looks like purl on one row, then k1 p1 rib for 2 rows. Am i right? In any case, the photos are beautiful. Love that red color. I like the counterpain under foot too!
Love them!
YAY YAY AND TRIPLE YAY!!!!!!! Can’t wait to start these!!!
Lovely socks & you always capture the stitch pattern so well in your pictures.
Very pretty! I just finished my first pair of socks for the Ravelympics. I have been stocking up on some of your sock patterns for when I am a little better at them. These will be added to my list.
You will make me into a sock-knitter yet!
And I am also fascinated by that white blanket/ counterpane. So tell us more!
I love the pair in Cayenne.
Yay on the new sock pattern! lovely π
And yes yes yes tell us more about that beautiful blanket! wowee!!
Ha ha in the time it takes me to knit a sock i find once gain you have knitted socks in several shades, and not a mistake in sight!! You seem to have knitted several other items before that too (in the time it took me to knit half a glove!!)
Wow, I love the way the pattern looks when the sock is actually being worn. Great work! And I’m with everyone else who has commented, please tell us more about that amazing blanket underfoot!
Love the socks! Nice with a pattern that works well for both solid and variegated yarn.
Anne,
I have yet to cast on for a pair of socks, but your patterns are soooo tempting. These are great looking ones and just what I need for walking our dog or just lazing around the house.
Have a nice weekend with your family, but you and David be careful coming home.
Anne- Wonderful- perfect socks for a snowy day.
I really like those socks–they just look so comfy! And the white coverlet is wonderful…do tell! I also think your shoes are great–I can see they are Keens. Do you remember what style? I’m in the market for a pair of weekend sneakers that don’t look they belong with a velour track suit. π
Happy weekend! I am off to Sheep In The City, near Milwaukee. I’ll be hitting the Briar Rose booth immediately upon arriving. I’ll tell Chris you said hello, because I know you would. π
Love ’em. When I looked through the photos, I thought of that movie (with a slightly altered title) The Man with One Red Sock
; )
THe socks are great but…….the BLanket OMG…pretty please…pattern?????
This one is just perfect for my DH…I love this and already placed my order!!! AM starting on it now…Beautiful!
Hope you get the blanket in the will–fabulous!! Sorry, not a sock knitter. Haven’t caught the ju ju yet. π
Anne, another fabulous pattern. I am on my way to Ravelry now to purchase it. Keep them coming, you are an amazing knitter and designer!!
Anne i have to say this is a beautiful pattern i’ve been wondering when it would be available, the socks looks so cozy. i can’t wait to hae some spare cash to purchase this pattern until then i’ll carry on finishing the roger socks. Glad you enjoyed the trip away for your classes i’ve been watching you posts and you’ve had alot of beautiful snow along the way. Nessa x
Beautiful socks! I just blew out another pair (and my favorites too!) this weekend. Once I finish my WIP (my self imposed penance for buying too much yarn recently), I think all I will be knitting is socks!
I’ve been away for a bit and am catching up on all the posts, drooling over everything as usual, but must compliment especially the gorgeous white Lilies of the Valley counterpane. I have 20 skeins of pure white Malabrigo worsted that I just found the perfect idea for!! GAW-JuS!!!
