this sock is a translation in stitches of the complex ironwork that characterizes the french quarter of new orleans, with its twined garter diamonds and trailing twisted chains. knit up in a thinner yarn with a bit of burnished sheen, these socks will add an elegant accent dressier shoes or trousers during transitional seasons.

many, many thanks to my friend kim from the woolen rabbit for sharing her beautiful new kashmir sock yarn with me for this design. please visit kim’s updated online store to see more of her luscious fiber offerings.
i am also very grateful to our very good friend agnes, who gleefully test knit this pattern and sent such beautiful photos of her finished socks; thank you a hundred times agnes!
and of course, thank you to david, who worked the photo shoot in my mom’s small dining room—we thought her rug made a nice backdrop for this fancy sock.

Just gorgeous! Glad you made it home. 🙂
Anne, that sock is gorgeous and I will have to knit it. I also wanted to say what a beautiful rug in your photos!!! It has all of my fave colors!
Hope you are not having a terrible time on the snowy drive home…

Anne, I love both the sock and David’s hat in the earlier post. I once knit a sweater in a similar cable pattern as the hat…am tempted to find that old pattern and make it once again.
Another brilliant pair of socks. You’re definitely keeping my needles flying!
That sock is calling my name. It’s also saying ‘Kate, you need to go sock yarn shopping’.
It’s beautiful.
Those are gorgeous. One of the prettiest designs I’ve seen. I love the details at the top.
lovely, lovely, lovely. you are brilliant. each new design is even more gorgeous! and the photos are always terrific. by the way, your patterns are so wonderful to follow – thank you for the clarity!
That’s a lovely sock! It really shows up against the rug.
This is also calling me..my sweater is coming along..I still make time for socks..
Next photo shoot, show the heel shaping..I love the one on the Gansey socks.
I ordered the kit from Kim over the weekend. It’s truly a beautiful design. I’m working on Longjohn socks right now. Another great sock. You are a wonder, Anne. I treasure you.
Love it!
Beautiful design. I think I need a new sock pattern!

It’s a wonderful design Anne! People at spa really liked it. 🙂
Of course I was gleeful…ya talkin’ to me?, I mean it’s an Anne Hanson design! I loved knitting this pattern.
You’re the best Anne & thank you “a hundred times”.
looks great! and oh man, i am drooling over that new “ruby” kashmir colorway. but i should probably stick to one of the million fingering-weight yarns already in my stash…
That is one schmexy sock! Makes me wish I liked making them.
How can something look so intricate and yet simple too? This sock is lovely.
Those socks are just gorgeous! So is the yarn! Soon as I make my Flamin’ Desire socks I’ll be doing these.
beauty!
I got to see these lovely socks in progress as Agnes was knitting them. Just gorgeous!
Lovely socks! I especially like the design elements just under the cuffs — they remind me of the antique glass Christmas ornaments my hubby brought from his family to hang on our tree.
oh my! ordering……
Already downloaded this, it’s sooo gorgeous!
thank you for this sock … I have had a rather lousy week and just treated myself to the kit as a bit of a pick me up … and since the weather is getting nicer and nicer here in DC I am looking forward to finding a spot outside to cast it on when it arrives!
