spring forward

Posted on Posted in lace/shawls, projects

hostas are pushing their noses up out of the dirt in the back yard.
from here on, it’ll be like watching a movie out there—something new every time i look around.

in an unusual show of athletic strength, the daffodils are catapulting past the crocuses with a growth spurt i haven’t seen in past years. to be fair though, the area where most of the crocuses grow has been under deep cover of snow that did not melt as fast and only in the last two days has the sun touched actual earth there.

i’ve been very busy the last couple of days, blocking pine and ivy shawls and dealing with a little setback on my handspun one. i’ll tell you all about my interesting morning later though—right now, beckie is here to pick me up for some shopping.
have a good friday night!

  1. crocuses are up over here! i even saw some honeybees buzzing around.

every time i see a new version of pine and ivy, i think i like it even better–guess i’m going to have to add it to the list…

  2. What a beautiful shawl – so delicate, a nice light shawl for spring.

I guess I’d better take a look around the yard – may be some early native wildflowers popping up. of course, they may all get drowned this weekend with all the rain MD is getting this weekend…

  3. Oh I LOVE the little shawl. My grandmother is turning 90 this spring and I wanted to make her something lace, but didn’t think she would use a large shawl. I think this might be just the thing!

  4. Anne, even the small ivy and pine shawl is gorgeous. I can see myself making this size, too.

Did you see we’ve already set up a KAL for this pattern?

And many of us are stalking the release.

    We love you!

  5. Every spring I announce that I will plant more bulbs in the fall. Every fall I am so busy with the start of school that I forget this promise. Oh, how I envy your little green shoots. Enjoy the weekend!

  6. So glad to see that it’s time to start following your garden again. Our daffodils are way ahead of the crocuses this year too. Don’t understand it, the crocuses are usually up in February! I noticed that the daylily leaves are starting to peek through too.

On the last two rows of the last chart of Dovecote…starting the edging tonight!

  7. How fun to see the garden starting to come to life! The shawl is so pretty and delicate looking. I hope that you enjoyed your weekend!

  8. Our peonies were starting to push their way out of the dirt, and of course, it snowed today… *sigh* Mother Nature has a sick, sick sense of humour.
