this shawl was actually created over a year ago and published in twist collective in the summer 2009 issue. now it’s time to make it available in our online pattern shop and share some of our own photos with you.

with just one overall pattern stitch repeated from neck to hem, this piece can be knit in any weight yarn, using an appropriate needle. we show it here in two yarn weights from briar rose fibers.

i’m sure that many of you are familiar with the gorgeous briar rose yarns and therefore with chris, who is generous and kind and loving and a really good dyer (and if you’re not familiar with it, please go right now to take a peek at chris’s online shop). time and again she provides just the right yarn for a developing project and this one is no exception—thank you chris!

and where would we be without great test knitters? once again vanessa and jocelyn graced this project with their expert knitting skills and feedback to make this pattern the best it can be—thank you ever so much!

and now i’m off to get a little sleep before my early flight to philly in the morning—next time you hear from me, i’ll be broadcasting from the city of brotherly love.

  4. This is a gorgeous design – and yet another reason to visit the Briar Rose site! I love that ‘Black Olives” color way and I especially like the idea that different yarn weights will work here. I am perilously close to finishing your ‘Stonewall” in alpaca – what a beauty.

  6. I had to have this pattern as soon as I saw it! I knit it in Briar Rose Grace, loved knitting it, and am wearing it as I type. It’s one of my favorites!

  16. I originally bought this pattern when it came out in Twist, but I have yet to find the perfect yarn. Hmmmm…looks like yarn shopping time (SIGH…if I must, I must 🙂 ) Have a safe trip. BTW you look so very elegant and pretty in the pictures.

  23. Your pictures are SO much nicer than the ones on Twist Collective! I love the first detail picture in the paler green yarn. So lovely. I’m going to make this, when I finish Maplewing…

  24. Sorry to be slow in reading and commenting, I love this shawl but have a question. Why does the small green one have pointier (prettier) edging than the darker green one? I think I’d like to make it in a fingering weight, but I want the pointier edging. Can you help?
