movie night sock

Posted on Posted in patterns

we all love those projects that practically knit themselves while we watch TV and socks more often than not fit the bill. here’s one that has a deep, tweedy texture which is entertaining to work, yet simple enough to knit during any spectator activity and as a bonus, can be made to fit any member of the family. an all-around favorite that works well in a busy colorway or a sleek solid shade.

shown here in size medium and knit in blue moon fiber arts socks that rock® lightweight, colorway paula mae, a new multicolor choice which will be available this monday on the blue moon site.

tina, the dye genius behind blue moon fiber arts, introduced this super, new colorway of socks that rock in our session of sock camp in april. we got to name the color at camp and chose “paula mae” for a variety of reasons. i tried to resist purchasing it and swore to myself i would live vicariously through other’s enjoyment of it, but then i saw it knit up and one thing led to another and not only did i buy it, but before i knew it i was swatching. ah me. but i’m so glad—another cozy pair of textured socks now lives in my sock drawer.

i must thank our dear friend agnes for offering to test knit this sock—it would not be correct or complete without her help (thank you agnes!!)

and where would we be without beckie’s lovely modeling skills? she is always such a great sport about working those sock muscles for us, thank you beckie!

how about a few more photos, straight form coronado beach in sunny southern california?

  1. Beautiful socks! I can’t wait for the day when I can knit a pair of socks while watching TV (or doing anything else). Since I just finished my first pair, I think I have a little ways to go. 🙂

  2. Another beautiful sock pattern. Great pictures. Wish I was somewhere with sand and warm air. Going up north (Michigan) for my Black Sheep Knitting Guild retreat this weekend. Leaving soon. Might be nice but not the same as where you are. Enjoy.

  3. Love the socks sooooo much
One day I will have a pair of knit socks of my very own…..one day
I am just so scared to try!

  4. Great socks! Might have to cast on this weekend. I’m thinking a “boobies” colorway……..

  5. Really cute! It’s always great to find patterns that show off variegated yarns to their best advantage.

    Nice flexing Beckie!

The sun came out! It’s 65 and quite breezy here. So not too bad–but I’m still jealous of you out in SD.

  6. oh Anne! … I so love what you do with my colourways. Paula Mae certainly took to the camera didn’t she? I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. Sorry for being such a slacker I promise to have it on the site by Monday. You made my day!
