ever wonder what happens to all those secret projects i talk about? some of them go away and appear only in someone else’s book or a magazine. some of them are temporarily exclusive for a club or magazine and they make their way back home at some point, so i can share them.
this neckwarmer and mitts set is one of those—designed near the end of 2009 for the woolgirl “embrace the lace” club, this is a very quick knit with lace every which way, all of it easily worked. a little victorian, made modern with some whimsical buttons; this might be one to consider for the gift list . . .
shown above, size small in lobster pot yarns baby camel, a 100% camel aran weight yarn, in colorway spiced pumpkin.
i purchased the acorn buttons at my local jo-ann fabric shop, but they can be found online as well.

Another beautiful design – the acorn buttons are perfect!
absolutely beautiful!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Beautiful!!
Love the buttons 🙂
Thank you-Love it!!!! A lace neckwarmer that I can use!! My hair is extra long, and I just can’t wear the pull over the head ones.
Those are absolutely beautiful!
The neckwarmer looks so cozy! Gives me all kinds of ideas with different yarn and who for!
is there anything knittable that you don’t turn into a jewel? Seriously. Of course, you are using MY colors here and the acorn buttons are to die for! Bravo, great work.
Love it!
Oohh, love the design – so pretty! And the acorn buttons totally make it. I must resist buying any more orange yarn, though, I have sooo much!
A quick knit . . . I see potential holiday gifts. You couldn’t have asked for better buttons.
Just in time for my Granddaughters request..she likes Vintage..maybe in violet..
The acorn buttons are SO cute! So autumn-ish 🙂
Love the color. This is a perfect fall project.
ooh! perfect for gifting, and for using the otherwise-useless half-balls of worsted weight yarn taking up space in my space stash drawer!
I need a tutorial on turning mitts into mittens! Unless there’s already one out there?
Really, really sweet…I just love the buttons. They are perfect!
I love special buttons, a perfect touch!
Ooh, those are lovely! And you’re right — they’re perfect for gifts 🙂
Wow! Love the color of that yarn. The patterns are beautiful. Must buy those buttons. They are precious!
very beautiful and what a wonderful fall color!
Another winner. You are SO amazing! And that yarn looks lucious in pattern. I wanna squish it!!
I am off to purchase the patterns! The acorns are the best. I love acorns!
Beautiful pattern and perfect yarn. And those buttons! Really? At Joann? I’ve never seen anything that cool at the Joann in my neighborhood.
Oh snapdragon, Anne! You’ve done it again! I love the way you work wonders with aran weight (and sport weight, and lace weight, and…. 🙂 ).
How appropo! I was just thinking about knitting up this very Woolgirl lace club kit for a gift. My favorite part was finding the acorn buttons at Joann’s Fabrics.
Oh my gosh! I love those gloves!!! The color is so warm too!!!! Lovely, lovely, lovely!!!!
I test knit this pattern for Woolgirl and it was one of my faves! What a great design. It looks complicated and beautiful, but it’s a really quick knit. Start to finish was just a few days and the camel yarn was luxurious.
