cabled keyhole scarf

Posted on Posted in patterns

you asked for it—you got it, just in time for weekend knitting. we didn’t even rush it; the cabled keyhole scarf is so quick to knit that we had several test copies finished in no time. i can assure you though, that the results belie the effort involved—it looks suitably impressive, polished, and richly textured enough for any occasion, any recipient. a great stash-busting project for small amounts of DK yarn or that little luxury skein you’ve been trying to match with a project.

shown here, size small in briar rose fibers cashmere special, a pure cashmere 4-ply sport/DK, in colorway 103 blue/green. chris is offering a special discount to knitspot readers through january 8, 2011 for all yarn purchases from her online shop; use the keycode knitspot.

this scarf also coordinates very well with our fine cabled mitts; it requires a different yarn weight, but sometimes we have both in the same color, right?

if you don’t have a luxury yarn on hand, sturdy, workaday yarns work equally well—a couple of my samples are knit in machine wash DK purchased at a discount store, but can you guess which ones?

i wanted to complete a couple more samples for the pattern release, but then thought that maybe you’d just want the pattern more quickly—we can all knit our next one together. haha, i’m sure a KAL for this scarf will spring up in our knitspot ravelry group before i’m done writing this post!

i’ve got my next cabled scarf in spirit trail birte on the needles now and i plan at least two more—one in a pretty green berroco blackstone tweed and one in great northern yarns cashmere DK.

and happy weekend knitting—you deserve it. try to relax and take things as they come; getting ready for christmas should be fun.

  1. I love this pattern! I normally knit cowls because I hate having to wrap a scarf around my neck and tuck it in. Cables and lovely hassle free scarf sound like the perfect pattern for the Knit Picks Capra I have sitting in my stash. Now to finish my gift knitting so I can make this for myself!

  2. Yes!! Something I can make for myself-can’t make cowls cause my hair is too long-but this will work! Off to buy it…

  3. YEA! I’m on my way to buy the pattern now and I will be casting on tomorrow morn . . . finishing up my fingerless mitts tonight so I’m ready!
