so little time . . .

this is my new Little Time buddha, isn’t she cute?
kim (sadly, blogless) made it and sent it from san diego. so now i will always be telling the truth when i say i have very little time.

thank you so much for all the enthusiasm and cheering on in the sweater-making effort here. i’m feeling pretty good about finishing before the 25th, but you never know

for instance, i did not get all the way to the underarms on the sweater yesterday as planned . . . my elbow started to complain very loudly from the stress of working fast with heavier yarn, and (i am mortified to say it) i started getting a blister on my middle left finger. what a weenie, right??

that seemed like a sign for me to switch to some gentler knitting, and nothing makes a boo-boo feel better like cashmere, i always say

same mitt i am knitting for myself out of CMF handspun cashmere (on hold til the holiday), this time in black pearl sport/DK cashmere from one planet yarn and fiber.

love this mitt; i can’t wait to have a finished pair. these will be for a friend and i might even get a scarf or hat made before christmas to go with it. it is part of a design for one planet and i believe it will be available as a kit in january. i hadn’t planned on working it out just yet, but christmas was a good opportunity to do it.

i also got started on the second lady cardigan sock in the woolen rabbit lambswool yarn, roasting chestnuts colorway.

ok, not much into it, but i got the ribbing out of the wayβ€”from now on it’s chart city.

and with that, i think i will wander off to put a few inches on that sweater, and work on some mitts.

  1. A blister! Now that is some fast knitting!! I love the colorway on the mitts! And, the Woolen Rabbit fiber is yummy!!

    Looking good!

  2. oh such a lovely original time teller, you are so lucky to receive it! Happy wandering and the best of knitting to you and yours πŸ™‚

  3. That sweater’s coming along swimmingly! I’m sorry about the blister, though… And I love those cashmere mitts; do you think there’s a reason for me to knit mitts for myself living in San Diego? There must be, if I just think hard enough. πŸ™‚

  4. Oh, I just ordered a skein of the roasting chestnuts sock yarn for the teosinte socks. And I just got yarn from BMFA in the mail today. Finally I get to cast on the bee socks. Trying to resist the pull of the Valkyrie Geisha (now there’s an image!), although I did wind the skein….

  5. Yes cashmere heals everything. Your time buddha is adorable. A blister, wow! That is fast knitting. I am holding my breath, how many things will you complete?

  6. I love everything! The Buddha is really special. You get the best stuff! The mitt is going to be great. It’s one we’ve not seen, right? It’s going to be a new pattern and kit with One Planet? Super! I can’t wait!

  7. that sweater is looking gorgeous thus far – and those mitts are on my must knit list (grin).
I hope your elbow heals FAST!
Love that new colorway of Kim’s – she does such a great job

  8. The color of the sweater looks delicious! Plus cashmere, and lambswool. It’s so much fun knitting vicariously with these fabulous yarns. And I love how you often feature your stitch-a-day calendar in photos, marking the time with stitches too.

  9. Kim made you the cutest little time budah ever πŸ˜‰ Yikes, a blister–you are over worked! Be careful or you’re liable to wear your knitting needles out!

  10. Your friend Kim is quite creative! The time buddha has a lot of personality! She is unique, and adorable.
I think I’ve said it already, but I can’t resist repeating it: I really love the stitch pattern on the mitts.

  11. That is the cutest little clock I have ever seen !
Very sweet of her to send it to you.
I can imagine you sitting there, knitting like crazy, with flaming hot needles, sparks coming of them, LOL ! Can you hear that tiny voice coming from far far away ? That’s me, cheering you on !

  12. The budda clock is such a cool gift! Kim is SO talented! I am looking foward to see what you come up with for David. The yarn looks so soft and cushy!

  13. The Time Buddha will make a great X-mas gift for my home-schooling sister. Thanks for sharing her. I hope I have time to whip one up. Hmm… perhaps I need two, one to give, and one to keep.

Also, if you don’t mind a request, I would like to know what the stitch pattern is shown on your calendar for the 17th. Coooool texture.

  14. What a great little clock! I love it. She is clever. And sweet.

I’m going to have to make a list of all the kits and yarns to keep an eye out for at this rate. I love that mitt and I love love love cashmere so I really have to remember to catch that one when it becomes available.

I do hope you don’t hurt yourself knitting anymore though.

  15. You have quite a bit going on there. Of course I am sure that there is more in the wings. πŸ˜‰

I have faith that you can get the sweater finished.

Ooooo cashmere. How couldn’t you feel better after that? πŸ™‚

  16. Wow. I love the color of that roasting chestnuts yarn. Oooh. Hope you get that sweater done without forming a full blister. Ouch. πŸ™

  17. I just adore the color of the woolen rabbit yarn. The sweater for your dh is looking beautiful knit up. I’m sure he will appreciate all the work into the sweater.
