WE DID IT!

just a few minutes ago, we went over 250 votes; thank you to everyone who voted and watched the countdown; we really appreciate you making the push on our behalf. now we wait; fingers crossed!

ok, here’s a secret we’ve been keeping for a few days: we found out about this opportunity last week and decided to apply; we weren’t sure we’d be able to make tomorrow’s deadline, but now we know we can do it. we have assembled our application to apply for a grant from mission: small business and we need your help to complete the process!!

we must gather 250 votes from knitspot enthusiasts by 12 midnight on saturday, june 30th (yes, that’s tomorrow), to finalize our eligibility.

voting is easy, the support button requires a bit of patience. it may hiccup due to heavy traffic; please be persistent.

please have your Facebook login ready, then follow these steps to cast your vote and help us qualify:

  1. CLICK HERE to go to the mission: small business home page
  2. click the button that says “LOG IN & SUPPORT’*
  3. enter “knitspot.com” and/or “ohio, canton” in the search field and click search
  4. press the vote button (you can also vote for other small businesses while you are there)
  5. spread the word to family and your friends, especially those who benefit from your knitting!

*a Facebook login is required by the organizers

you can read more about the program, its goals, and its sponsors at the mission: small business site.

if we win, we plan to use the funds for both growth ventures (publication of books, hiring a business manager, and hopefully producing our own barenaked yarns) as well as improvements to our infrastructure and physical space (our website needs an major update and we are fast growing out of club central, for instance).

thank you, thank you to everyone who participates; we appreciate your support always!

  1. I don’t have a Facebook account but I will nag my husband (who does) to vote for you! Sounds like a brilliant opportunity – got my needles crossed for you! (might create a new stitch in the process, haha)

  2. i’m so excited! i know we can get 250 votes from your unbelievably loyal followers. good luck anne! i have EVERYTHING crossed for you.

  3. Done (though unable to do it via your link, it was easy to find Mission:small business myself). Good luck!

  4. Being 1 of probably 10 people on the planet who doesn’t have a FB account, I can’t vote but I wish you the best of luck! You know your peeps won’t let you down 🙂

  5. I would vote, if I could…I’m another one of those nonFacebook folks (I think it’s more than 10 who don’t have a presence on Facebook…). I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

  6. In reading your comments, I am glad to see that I am not the only person without a facebook account. Would happily vote for you if I did! Good luck!

  7. I went to the site but nothing comes up in the search field. I just did t his the other day for someone else so it has worked before. Any thoughts?

  8. I went to your website and got your state and town, then searched by that. I did find you and was able to vote for you! Good luck!

  9. Anne/Carolyn — I had the same problem searching on knitspot and knitspot.com, so I searched on City/State with Canton, Ohio. Knitspot was on the 2nd page. HTH! Happy to vote!

  10. Finally able to vote (nbr 121) by going to facebook, searching for mission small business, bringing up Canton Ohio and then found Knitspot on page 2. Couldn’t bring it up via links here or on Ravelry.
    Good Luck.

  11. Like another commenter, I went to the site, entered “knitspot.com” and got a message that stated there were no results for what I entered. Any suggestions?

  12. sorry, I didn’t read the two posts anove mine. I did the Canton, Ohio search and successfully voted!

  13. Yes, if you just click on the icon for Facebook at that point when it comes up with that message, then you are informed that you have voted. Not sure if it is true or not, in fact the whole thing looks mightily suspect.

Perhaps you should consider The Dragon’s Den, on television, although I’m not sure if it is only a Canadian opportunity.

  14. Thanks to everyone who said to search by canton/ohio. That works. I found knitspot and voted.

  15. Guess I’m #4 or 5 who’s not on FB. I do wish you well however. Also, am very much in love with your Woolen Rabbit club pattern and Kim’s yarn for Isadora. Just beautiful!

  16. As another non-FaceBooker, I wonder why voting is limited in that way? I would wholeheartedly support you, Anne, if voting were set up so that ANYONE could vote. Best of luck! I’m sure you’ll get your 250 supporters!

  17. Done…. And a pleasure to support you. I wish you the best of luck ^.,.^

  18. Would love to vote for you. Alas, must settle for virtual voting. Find even the concept of FB off-putting. Still, I suspect it will be more a question of Knitspot fans crashing the server than not getting enough votes. Bon chance!

  19. I hope that you guys get one of these grants. Having a line of knitspot yarns would be wonderful. I got the alpaca sock yarn as part of the BNK club, and I think any other ideas you come up with need to have a way to come into the real world too.

  20. I am not on Facebook but I will send it to my daughters, who are! Good luck, Anne!

  21. This is the first time I’ve ever been sorry I’m not on Facebook!
Please know if I were, I would have voted for you.
