this sheer faroese shawl has allover movement thanks to a pretty stitch pattern with lines that fairly shimmer. all the elements of a sunny summer meadow in one neat package that sits smartly on the shoulders. and the bugs don’t bite.

shown here in knitting notions classic merino lace yarn, colorway pear (just one of many desirable color choices).

this project made possible thanks to catherine for her generous yarn support, enthusiasm, and test knitting (i wanted to add her ravelry link but ravelry is down at the moment).
and to jocelyn, who is finishing her edging as i write this and is a constantly encouraging, excited, and incredibly helpful teammate (M-M-MWAH!)
and thanks again to rachel whose ability to find the things we all miss is very much appreciated.
and of course, what would this post be without david’s camera work? thanks babe.

  1. Stunning as usual! You never disappoint with your designs. I love to see the progression of your shawl designs on your blog. This is a particular favorite-it makes you want to manifest wings and fly. Thanks for all your inspiration.

  2. oh Anne – it’s fabu-loso!!!
(but then again, all of us who have knit with your patterns knew it would be)
And the photo shoot is quite amazing too. I especially love the artistic shot of you leaning against the tree, looking away from the camera. wow.
You know, you could be posing for Vogue.

  3. OMG!!! It is beautiful!!! The yellow is really nice, too. I can’t wait to see how the wrap will turn out.

  4. Oh my goodness, what a beauty! I like the structure of it, with the simpler lace straight down the back and the very dramatic lacewing border. And of course the fabulous color… 😉

  5. That is again gorgeous. As I knew it would be. In my cart and about to be bought as I type. I believe I am gonna succumb to the yarn too although maybe not. I have some very nice laceweight in a perfect color that if I have enough of it… Must run and check now! Never mind that it will be ages before I can actually start knitting. Must know now! Must have pattern now!

  6. That is the most beautiful shawl I think I have ever seen! I absolutely love the little bugs. Thanks for the inspiration and pattern.

  7. I love everything about this from the way it drapes, to the color, to the photos. And you are a cute model. Awesome!!

  8. oooohhh….that turned out very pretty! you always have such wonderful pictures of your finished knits. tempting as always…

  9. After ordering your shawl pattern and drooling over your wonderful photos, David is certainly a master photographer for sure, I agree with Jessica that you definately are the “queen of lace!”

  10. Anne – I’m never quite sure which I admire most – the amazing knitting or the breathtaking photography – both are true works of art. Congratulations on yet another masterpiece.

  11. It is very beautiful! I particularly like the diamonds that travel up the shawl. And I love the generous size. Just lovely.

  12. The shawl is very delicate, the photography is stunning, it was like looking thru a high end fashion magazine, I enjoyed looking at your blog and will definately save this for future reference.
