keukenhof sok

Posted on Posted in patterns

we took our tulips to the sea this week in a sock knit up from a cross-season favorite—bamboo and merino. comfortable, pretty, and airy, this one makes just the right layer to wear for warm, breezy days.

shown here, size small in woolen rabbit bambino, colorway, mama mia.

my friend kim is one of the best dyers out there; i always enjoy knitting up her beautiful yarns and this one was no exception—thank you kim! you can see a full array of her gorgeous yarns in her online shop.
ronni helped me out with proofreading on this one. you might recognize her from comments; welcome ronni!
gail leapt at the opportunity to test knit the sock (how does she do it??) for which i am completely grateful; thank you gail!
and then there is my buddy kim (sadly blogless), who can model socks, text her kids, and carry on a conversation with me and beckie, all the while perched on the edge of a rockpile surrounded by pounding surf. AND she makes it look easy. thank you kim!

  1. Irresistable piece. Though the only things I knitted with the dpn’s so far are hats for gifts and charity, I wouldn’t mind working on a pattern like this for my first sock project.

  2. Wow, it sure looks like those socks had a more enjoyable weekend than I did. 😛 I’m curious, do you get to keep all these socks that you knit for yourself, or do you give them away?

  3. Wow,they look so tempting, but I’m hanging on till I hand in this course portfolio and then I can indulge.
    Looking forwards to it.

  4. Thank you SO much for your kind words! I am looking forward to knitting this one myself in Pussywillow.

  5. Wow, these are great socks. And I love the stylish shots, esp. the final one, looking out to sea. I may have to break my yarn diet for some of that yarn…

  6. What a fantastic photo shoot! In that colorway, in that setting, they are reminiscent of coral. They are definitely gorgeous socks.

  7. lovely photoshoot, lovely sock! i’ve got a glut of earmarked yarn now, but as soon as i’m “allowed” to buy more, i’ll be buying some of hers! i think her new pussywillow colorway might be just the “interesting gray” i’ve been looking for.

  8. Your socks are beautiful,…but I am possessed,….the yarn is from Chris and it’s wound and ready!!,…when is the delicious sweater pattern coming out!?,….I know….be patient,…but it is spectacular! JAne in Guelph

  9. What a lovely pattern! (Gail also did a lovely job on that colourway, Kim did a lovely job knitting and sadly blogless Kim has very lovely feet!… That coastline is pretty great too!
