Craftsy: The Ins and Outs of Grafting

Posted on Posted in projects

I bet a lot of you were thinking to yourself, “will Anne be releasing another Craftsy class?” The answer is yes! The Ins and Outs of Grafting is now live and it is full of tips and tricks. She shows you how to invisibly join stitches to create seamless motifs and mirroring effects.

The best part of this mini class? It’s FREE! How cool is that!? All you need is about 25 yards of DK yarn, US size 6 and 7 needles, and stitch markers and you can sit in front of the screen and watch Anne’s online class from anywhere.

I’m not going to spoil the class for you, but if you were desiring to knit

Hillflowers

Miss Doolittle

Boxleaf Wrap

Gobi Hat

(from BNK club 2012; available in the ebook here)

Twinings

this class would be invaluable when it came to finishing the piece. Anne has a way of explaining techniques that make them seem effortless.

Anne’s 1st Craftsy class, Button Bands and Buttonholes, was released last month.

If case you missed the details about her online class, you can read this post. And in case you were dying to take this class and you hadn’t signed up yet, leave a comment below by 9 pm EST May 11 and I will draw one lucky person to get the Button Bands and Buttonholes for FREE!

I’m so glad that Anne is able to offer online classes for those of us that can’t seem to make it to her teaching events. These two classes are fantastic and I hope there are more Craftsy classes to come. I swear, Anne is making me confront all my knitting fears. One class at a time…

  1. I’m getting close to knitting my first button band on a baby sweater that I’m knitting. This class sounds like it would be super helpful. Thanks for the chance to win!

  2. Oh, wow! I *love* Craftsy as a platform and have had a lot of trouble with buttonbands in my knitting past . . . what a fun opportunity!

  3. I would love to take your Button band class! I’ve already signed up for the grafting class.

  4. Craftsy is aMAZing. Congratulations on joining the ranks of their great teachers! I’ve enrolled in and learned from about a dozen classes plus 6 or 7 free classes. Incredible value. Thank you for doing the grafting class. Now I will be able to finish my boyfriend’s socks (I finished them a couple of years ago but they needed to be a bit longer, so I did some surgery, added an inch of length in the foot, and now have to graft the ribbing back together). Button bands is next on my purchase list! Thanks for the giveaway.

  5. I have been saving all my pennies so I could get this class. The nursing school shoestring budget leaves me no room for any yarn related stuff 🙁 only 1 more year! Hopefully ill win & be able to knit a nice button band for the sweater I’m gonna knit over the summer 🙂

  6. I love Craftsy’s classes and I am looking forward to taking the grafting class!

  7. I’ve avoided patterns with button bands for years… this class sounds like it’s just what I need to get over my fear of them!

  8. So excited to see Anne on Craftsy – I like that platform a lot. The class would be a *little* consolation for missing out on nearby in-person classes.

  9. I would love to take Anne’s Craftsy class! I know I would learn so much!

  10. Craftsy is awesome and so is Anne. Together, this must be a fantastic class!

  11. I would love to win the Button Band class. I’ve paid a finishing person in the past, but it is time to put on the big girl panties and learn to do it myself.

  12. I really need to try a Craftsy class. It is the perfect platform for those of us that would have to travel a long distance to attend any type of class.

  13. I would love to take your buttonband class, and taking it for free would be even better

  14. I didn’t know about that class. I hope to make a sweater this year. It would be good to know!

  15. I just reserved my grafting class a few days ago. I have been a bit busy to start it, but I have a few hours tomorrow and have planned to watch it. I would love to get the button band course too! Thanks for the generous offer.

  16. Hooray! I’ve been grafting stockinette for a while now, but I’ve been wondering about how I was going to get the info I needed to graft my infinity scarf from the may shipment of bnk. I’m a bit over halfway so will be checking out Anne’s grafting class very soon!! Thank you 🙂

  17. The craftsy class was sooo timely. I am knitting a sample sweater and it has a graft at the neckline. I have kind of fudged my way through in the past, but wanted this to be nice — and it was! Thanks!

  18. I can do a lot of knitting techniques on my own but finishing techniques are where I’d really love to see how an expert does it and get a few tips and tricks on how to improve. I’m off to check out the grafting class right now!
