debut redux (let’s try this again)

ok, yesterday’s big surprise debut was somewhat ruined—the database had gotten fried in friday’s server crash.
if you weren’t here, too bad you missed it . . the new shop was giving away free extra patterns with almost every order. so we had to take it down only hours into launching it. it kinda ruined the fun surprise, but we can try it again today. here goes:

no, really. we DO.

this is something i have talked and dreamed about for ages, and which never came to fruition, because it is a big job that i was not able to do myself. we made attempts at doing it, but not until rachel and joe, at frontier websmiths, took over the helm was it a reality. and just in time too.

pattern business has been brisk all summer, and some days it was all i could do to keep up with my old system of emailing patterns. now, anyone who wants to buy patterns can go to the shop, browse around, make selections and pay for them there, and then download them without having to wait for me to send anything. how cool is that?

the shop has lots of nice features and i hope that you’ll check it out (and we are anxious to hear from you with feedback). leave comments and/or reviews to tell us what you think.

a big, HUGE thank-you to joe and rachel for their patience and persistence in getting things up and running AGAIN.

this is rachel in her flight simulator seat (yes, they really DO have one that they use for another client). i like that it makes her look like she is wearing a halo (snort).

PS: FOR THOSE WHO DID MAKE IT INTO THE SHOP YESTERDAY:
thank you all so much for ordering and for letting us know about the problems. i think you all received your orders OK, but if not, let me know. unfortunately, in the process of fixing the store, we had to wipe out any accounts that were created, so you will need to make a new account next time you visit. sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you again!

  1. I was wondering how you got that halo over your savior’s head! I visited the shop, which I thought looked terrific although I didn’t buy anything yesterday. I’m waiting for Twinings and then I’ll do a combo order.

  3. The shop works really fast–it’s a huge improvement over the lengthy .pdf catalog download. I really love the little Knitspot weathervane on the pattern shop in the sidebar. Your web art is always excellent.

  7. Congrats on making it happen! I totally understand that it was just about time for you to switch to a new delivery system, and I’m glad you’ll be able to get back a bit (or a lot!) of time for yourself that way. I’ve had a look at the shop, and it is great! I like being able to find all the info I want to get before making a purchase, and not only was the info easy to find in your shop, it was also extremely complete. Well done!

  9. Congratulations on the Grand Opening! I celebrated by ordering several patterns I didn’t have, and it seems to be working now as everything downloaded fine. Of course we’ll miss getting your email with each purchase, but it’s great that the patterns are doing so well!

  10. Congratulations! The shop is wonderful, easy to use and quick as lightening. I love the Honeybee stole which I’ve just bought and now I can’t wait for the Twinnings stole. And best of luck with the sweater knits – there’s nothing that warms the soul like a newly hand knit jumper!

  18. Great shop! It was so much easier to look (and I’m sure will be to buy) then it was in the old catalog. Just wanted to ask why you didn’t put the Orchid lace set in the coordi knits category. Anyway, just thought I’d see if you wanted it there! I’m waiting for the Twinings stole as well – it’s VERY pretty:)
