Ah, it’s time once again for me to dust off the archives! Anne is super busy with all kinds of fun stuff (she’ll fill you in on Sunday) and I didn’t think you’d mind a little trip with me down memory lane. Plus, there’s a contest involved!
With the metro Detroit area covered in a new blanket of snow, it seemed apropos to highlight this beauty of a mitt pattern.

Snow on Cedars is a mid-length mitt with allover lace motifs of pine trees and snowflakes. Doesn’t this seem like the most delightful thing to knit for a friend? It’s the perfect accessory for chilly offices or knitting in drafty places. Or to wear running errands and not be bothered with taking your gloves on and off.

It’s a pretty quick knit as well because the right and left are interchangeable. I can’t imagine I’m the only one that has knit two left mitts. Even I can’t screw this one up!
Don’t you just want to wrap these mitts around a hot cup of tea as you gaze out the window at the snow covered pines?

Can’t you see these mitts done up in Breakfast Blend Fingering? Won’t they be a little piece of heaven for your hands?

I think this duo and I are going to spend some time together this weekend. Hmmm…coffee, hot cocoa, tea, hot toddy…I definitely have options. Or maybe you guys can help me. What is your fave hot drink? Leave your suggestion in the comments by 10 pm EST on Feb 24 and I’ll pick a winner to receive this mitt pattern!
I’m off to check on Baby Knitspot before I turn in for the night. Today he turned 6 months!

I can’t believe it. It seems like Aug 22 was yesterday.
Happy weekend everyone!

Ya the mittens and the pattern is lovely, but that BABY!!!!!!! He gets cuter every time I see him!!
My fav hot drink? Hmm..it’s got to be my homemade spicy cinnamon chai with sweetened condensed milk. Sometimes when I need a little more buzz, I add a shot of espresso to my chai for an early morning eye opener! Yum!
It may seem more of something a little kid would like but I love hot chocolate. But I love just about anything that has to do with chocolate.
No way has it been six months already! And he does get cuter every time he’s up there!
Being curious – what are these snow covered pines to which you refer? ;} We don’t have those here in Austin.
Favorite hot drink? Espresso. And more espresso!
My favorite hot drink: hot cocoa with just a bit of Peppermint Schnapps! I think bartenders call it a Snuggler 😉
Thanks for bringing these mitts to my attention. My sister runs a cattle ranch in Utah and has had a tough winter. I’ve been looking for something I can knit up quickly for her – I think I’ve found it!
My favorite hot drink is Constant Comment Tea. I love the aroma and the taste. The warmth of the cup is very nice, too. It’s about time I knit some mitts, never have. I’d use the Snow on Cedars pattern right away.
My favorite hot drink is Ginger Lemon Tea with a dark honey like chestnut. You are not alone; at least socks don’t usually come in right and left.
What a *supersweet* baby! He gets more adorable with every picture!!
My favorite hot drink can vary with the activity it accompanies. Of course we are talking knitting here, and I would have to choose some tea. Tazo passion herbal tea. Yum!
Betsy in the chilly Seattle suburbs
My favorite hot drink is Yogi Bedtime Blend. It is a very subtle flavor and I like to drink it in the evening before bed. I think it has a bit of licorice in it for sweetness. Can easily be drank all on its own. It is very snowy, cold and wintry here in Northwestern Ontario. A few days last week I thought we could have been a movie setting for an Arctic blizzard, as it was so windy, snowy and frigid. Keeps me in the mood for knitting though. Your baby is very healthy and happy–you are blessed.
My favorite hot drink at lunchtime is coffee…I alternate between Green Mountain’s Neopolitan Blend and new decaf flavor that I cannot remember right now.
At dinner I drink tea…Earl Grey with Lavendar or Honeybush Caramel, a roobios blend. My meal determines which flavor I drink. Tonight I had the Honeybush Caramel to go with my tilapia and rice. YUM!
Love those sweet cheeks on Baby Knitspot! He is growing so fast!! (And getting cuter by the minute, too.)
hot spiced cider is always nice!
Cute mitts and even cuter Baby Knitspot! My favorite hot drink is a decaf Americano with a flavor to sweeten it double cupped so it says warm longer. Stay warm.
Such a sweet baby! I wish him (and you) continued happiness.
My favorite hot drink? Well, I drink a lot of coffee, it’s what keeps me going during the day, but for sheer enjoyment I love a large cup of fragrant black tea – preferably Earl Gray!
I love a hot cup of tea with Indian spices and milk.
Hmmmm… This is hard bc my pick depends on my mood. I really like organo gold latte ( its an instant coffee but way better than say folgers or some nasty stuff like that ) or a nice homemade chai with almond or soy milk…and then there’s a hot toddy 🙂 and gunpowder green tea is high on the list too 😉
Freshly brewed coffee for sure. That baby is really adorable.
Hot cocoa. Made with milk.
I’m a coffee addict 🙂
I don’t need the pattern (already have it!) but just wanted to say thank you for the Breakfast Blend suggestion. I’ve been sitting on the pattern for a couple of years looking for just the right yarn. A coffee coloured pair of mitts would be lovely I think. If only there was a matching hat and scarf…. (hint!)
Hello: A cup of coffee at 5:00 a.m. with a touch of carnation’s milk. I love the picture of Baby Knitspot, he looks so happy, it makes me smile.
Baby Knitspot is a real cutie!
The pattern is lovely. I am a sucker for mitt patterns.
As for favorite hot drink, I love a cup of freshly ground, freshly brewed, hot, strong (strong enough to wake the neighbors) coffee in the am and again at lunch.
Baby Knit-Spot is so handsome! He is amazing!
With all the wonderful things out there to drink, I am a dinosaur and still like a plain cup of good coffee. I like a little plain 1/2 & 1/2 in it, but that’s all…no flavors, no special treatments. From time to time I will add a spoonful of hot cocoa mix, also plain, for a little something special, but coffee simple is my favorite.
And fingerless mitts are perfect for North Florida winters!
I love a cup of warm almond milk before bed. It’s just sweet enough on its own. Very relaxing. When I was little, though, my mom made warm milk with nutmeg. Neither of these would prepare me for knitting, though, just sleeping!
My favorite hot drink is the Mint Condition Mocha at Caribou Coffee. On Wednesdays, my son, Charlie, gets a hot chocolate, and I have a mocha and we sit there together while waiting to pick my daughter up from her drawing class at the park district.
Padraig looks wonderful. His features get more defined each time you post. I love his wispy hair!
I have always admired these mitts but somehow have never quite gotten around to buying the pattern! My favorite drink is to take my mug-of-the-moment and put in 3 scant tsp sugar, 1 rounded tsp cocoa, make into a paste with a splash of milk, then add more milk to fill. Heat in the microwave . Good with coffee in it too, after you’ve drunk it down some.
Coffee, hands down.
Hot apple cider with calvados!!! And keep the baby pictures coming 🙂 !
My favorite drink in the morning is Peet’s French roast coffee in the morning with sugar and cream and not the fat free creamer either! I like a little fat to get my day rolling. In the evening though I enjoy either sleepy time tea by celestial seasonings or chamomile.
This pattern is one of my favorites for mitts. I have yet to do a pair of fingerless mitts for myself. Maybe these will be the first:)
My favorite hot drink…so many to choose from I am a sucker for strong Ethiopian coffee with a touch of milk in the morning. However, during the day and when I am knitting tea does the trick! Preferably Earl Grey or Lemon Grass tea…delicious… and baby knitspot is such a cutie! Happy 6 month bday! 🙂 And speaking of hot drinks, I have had to limit my caffeine intake because I am expecting with means half a cup of coffee in the am and no Earl Grey during the day! The mitts are lovely! I will have to knit up a pair!
There’s a local coffee place that makes cherry chocolate coffee. It’s divine.
Spicy chai with a little milk and brown sugar makes my day when it is that cold! Using the prepared spice mixtures I also add a little black tea to give it a little boost in the caffeine department!
A big mug full and me and my knitting in front of the blazing chimney fire!
How much toastier can you get?
Mulled wine, definitely, with homemade chai being a close second. We heat up the wine very gently while heating some sugar or honey with water and spices at a low simmer. Then we combine in various proportions, depending on our mood and what time of day it is.
Coffee–with half and half.
My favourite hot drink is probably something you’ve never heard of – Ovaltine. It tastes just like the centre of a Malteaser.
I love coffee and I like to make it extra special by adding a little Irish cream on the weekends
My favorite hot drink is irish cream coffee,
Hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps always tastes great.
Baby Knitspot is adorable! My favorite drink for daytime would be a mocha, peppermint, pumpkin spice, or chocolate. The evenings are good for lemon or fruity green teas. Now a hot Texas day requires a tall ice tea or sometimes just a cold drink of water.
I love a piping hot chai tea latte! Target sells the k-cups so I can enjoy it at home with my knitting and no trip out in the cold to Starbucks.
Hot herbal tea with a dollop of Barenjager (a honey liqueur).
Hot chocolate is my favorite:)
What a beautiful baby!
I see someone else drinks Ovaltine. That is what we had growing up and I still love it. And I love the pictures of baby knitspot, what a cutie!
Once a year at Christmas…A Tom and Jerry.
For everyday (many times a day)…Earl Grey.
Kiss that beautiful boy and nibble his little neck for me:)
The drink I have first thing in the morning and late afternoon. A nice cup of Yorkshire Gold tea. It’s refreshing and invigorating. In fact, I’m drinking my morning cup now. New York has had a serious cold snap. Those mitts would be GREAT! Cute baby.
favorite hot drink…hands down, it’s coffee! fresh-brewed, strong, unadorned. it’s one of life’s little gifts and i enjoy it daily! i would love to knit the mitts. 🙂
Pretty baby and pretty mitts.
Beverage choice for cold days; hot cocoa. What else is so comforting (and fattening but who cares when you’re chilled)?
Lovely post about those beautiful mitts. And look at that little guy grow!
Favorite beverage is usually a Latte, but I have become very fond of some of the teas from a local Teahouse that friends and I often go to. My current favorite is Butter Truffle.
Love the mitts. Can’t believe baby knitspot is 6 mos. old either! Wow what a cutie. Hot coffee with lots of cream for my fav. hot drink.
Ooh…I love this mitt pattern!
I am a coffee lover. I have never been one to drink it for the caffeine…I just love the smell and flavor. I love a cup in the evening! Lately, my favorite is Pike’s Peak Roast (from Starbucks) with Southern Butter Pecan (International Delights) creamer…warm and comforting!
ummm chai latte.. delicious mitts and baby too…yum
I drink lots of Lady Earl Grey at home. If I can get out, I hit a local Middle Eastern market for some sweet hot tea. Something about the sage and rosewater combination is heavenly.
I love a nice pot of English breakfast. What a gorgeous pattern–thanks for bringing it back to our attention!
Um, I was going to say hot mulled wine, which I’ve had a few times, but really, I couldn’t survive without my morning coffee. As far as August 22 being yesterday–given that I just pulled a yogurt out of my fridge with a sell by date of September 17th–why, yes, I believe it was.
I love coffee!….and Anne’s Snow
Hot tea is always a good thing, no matter what time of day. If it is evening how about a nice glass of wine, always a good thing. Either way, the mitts are beautiful and would be a treat no matter what you were drinking while you knitted on them. Happy 6 month to Baby Knitspot!!!
My favorite hot drink is a good mulled cider! Snow on Cedars is such a beautiful pattern! Baby Knitspot is SO cute!!! Six months is a great age!
Hot tea – a good black tea with honey and lemon.
Good, strong, hot coffee with cream and honey!!
I’m leaning toward Chai these days….love those spices.
Hot tea! I drink at least five cups of hot tea a day, even in summer. I don’t know what i would do if i couldn’t have my hot tea.
Tea, good tea and strong!
Coffee, coffee, and more coffee…
I’ve got to say coffee because that’s how I ease into the day. As a “if it’s not too late in the evening (and we have milk)”treat, my husband makes an excellent chai tea.
A hot cup of black tea! The stronger the better!
Coffee is my drink of choice–unflavored, black and bold. Second favorite is tea–black, spicy and strong.
Happy six months to Baby Knitspot! He’s such a cutie!
Well, I was going to say hot chocolate, but really, that’s only for a few months a year and only when it’s cold outside. My true year-round, no matter what the weather, is a cup of hot, lemony English breakfast tea.
Best hot drink to cozy up wiith is reduced sweetener Oregon chai. Ahhh the warm, spiced lightly sweetened drink.
My favorite hot drink is hot apple cider. 🙂
Okay…not a drink, until the ice cream melts. But for the absolute greatest winter treat…..hot cream of wheat with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The sweet creamy taste as it melts is to die for! Try it!!
Green tea remains a favourite for knitting by the fireplace. Thanks for the contest!
I think the winner is hot tea … A close second is hot chocolate with whipped cream … but the tea wins since I’m 4 months pregnant and changing my tea drinking habits has been my biggest challenge!
Happy 6 months to Baby Knitspot – he just gets cuter and cuter doesn’t he?
Love so many but I would have to say tea is my favorite. Right now we are drinking a combination of ginger, lemon, mint tea combined with a black currant tisane to fight off winter coughs…
Probably hot chocolate, but if there’s caramel or coffee involved, count me in!
Mmm, I love a good cup of coffee. But I’m seemingly on an endless quest for the perfect chai, too.
He is adorable!!!
Coffee in the a.m…..at another time of day, chai tea.
Hot black tea with honey and lemon is my choice. Drink it all year round.
Love those mitts. And Baby Knitspot – what can one say but he’s the cutest!
love the mitts…. I drink all different things, but on a cold snowy night. Hot Chocolate, with pepperment.
I love hot chocolate! Sometimes I add a little peppermint to it.
Happy 6 month birthday to little man! Time flies when you have a little one… our son will be 1 in April and it seems like he was just a tiny 6 lb newborn! Bittersweet…
Hot spiced apple cider! Great pattern, thanks!
Chai – served above 10,000 feet and lovingly prepared by my favorite Nepalese guide — there is nothing like it watching the sun rise over those mountains!
“Prince Vladimir” tea!
Happy 6 month b-day! Babyhood flies by with every day something new.
Definitely hot chocolate – I enjoy Ghiradelli double dark.
A steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee with cream and sugar accompanied by a hot, buttered scone.
Lovely pattern. would be my first pair of mitts.
I don’t like hot drinks much. I have hot chocolate maybe a couple of times a year, but not yet this winter. Give me an iced drink anytime. I guess this counts me out.
Paidrigh (sorry about the spelling) is adorable!
Barry’s Gold Irish Tea with cream and sugar – one lump, please. Add to it some bourbon cream sandwich cookies – there’s no booze, but they are chocolate!
Cardamom tea…
London Fog – my friend Pam (also a knitter) introduced me to it in Albuquerque – Earl Grey tea, vanilla syrup, and steamed/frothed milk. Heaven!!
Hot and strong tea what the British call “Builders tea”. The mittens are beautiful and Baby Knitspot is adorable.
Love my first sip of coffee in the a.m. Sure gets me going.
Wassail– mix apple cider, frozen OJ, strong tea, sugar, fresh ginger, cloves, cinnamon sticks– not just for Christmas!
Hot tea for me! For a special treat, I love hot chocolate with a small shot of ButterShots (Butterscotch Schnapps) and whipped cream. Delicious!
I drink a lot of hot tea. These days it is a cardamom spice steeped in a new tea pot from a thoughtful friend. My office is in a north facing, converted garage with no insulation. Some days are colder than others. I can see that wear these snow of cedar and drinking a hot cup of tea just might keep me warm on those really cold days.
Coffee coffee coffee, though sometimes I drink black tea and roses, and the cardamon sounds lovely too.
Cold beverage: WATER everytime!
I tend toward a giant mug of tea…. but for something different, some Yerba Mate is always yummy 🙂 Love the mitts!
My hot cup of tea with honey. It warms me up.
I am a purist–hot black coffee for me.
Gotta have that first cup of coffee in the morning, but throughout the rest of the day, a hot cup of tea is my choice.
Hmmm… all of them?? I have a coffee in the morning nearly every day, but I drink tea throughout the day, usually a decaf variety. My current favorite is White Ayurvedic Chai from Teavana!
I recently discovered that lemon-ginger tea has a nice kick to it!
Coffee in the morning, then tea the rest of the day-strong with a tiny bit of sugar
Definitely hot chocolate with little marshmallows.
I make Chai tea but add a shot of expresso….yum! Another option is to make regular coffee but add some chai fat fee concentrate and some milk-I warm the concentrate and milk in the microwave first, then add hot coffee….double yum!
If I have to pick just one hot drink it would be Chai.
Hmm, so many to choose from – Love slices of fresh ginger, lemon and honey with hot water and a shot of good whiskey!
Definitely hot chocolate! Especially with homemade chocolate marshmallows!
Abuelita-Mexican hot chocolate. That hint of cinnamon is soooo good. Thanks for this weekend contest.
Wow….6 months already for baby knitspot! So cute.
As far as hot drinks, I really just prefer Twinings Darjeeling with honey
I really love Earl Grey tea with a nice biscotti.
Green tea with a spot of honey is my fave this winter.
Coffee all the way for me, preferably dark roast….yummmmm…
SIX MONTHS!!!!!!! Can he get any cuter? Give his cheek a little smoosh.
What better than a pot of steamy hot Earl Grey Tea.
Stay toasty
Hugs
Hot chocolate with a tiny bit of peppermint extract.
Right now I’m enjoying an herbal tea blend of sweet spearmint, lavender, and elder berries called Fairy Tea from Owens Acres it’s delicious! Thanks for the chance to win.
I am mostly a tea drinker, with a little milk and honey. But sometimes, nothing but a cup of hot cocoa will do. 🙂
It would have to be tea – black with two generous sugars. (In fact I’m sitting here enjoying an early morning cup of tea as I write this). But then what type of tea? Earl Grey, Lady Grey, English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast or the delicious creme brulee tea with vanilla and caramel my daughter bought me for Christmas? There is a real tea for every mood.
Happy 6 months Baby Knitspot! Love coffee with hazelnut creamer!
Hot coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon – and plain black tea goes so well with a little something sweet to eat.
A big cup of Americano black with no sugar! For me it’s best if it is decaf, but once in a while I’ll get high test and then it’s speed knitting all the way!
A cup of Harney’s Vanilla Comoro tea fits the bill most afternoons!
Hot cider spiced with a shot (or two) of a nice, dark, spiced rum! It’s just a wonderful cup of comfort and inspiration all in one!
Hot chai tea, spicy and milky! And Baby knitspot is darling.
A mug of steaming hot tea, nothing fancy, just ordinary tea always hits the spot with me. Happy 6 months birthday to Padraig!
Hot drip coffee with vanilla flavoring is what I crave in the morning and evening – especially when brewed by my wonderful hubby! Baby Knitspot is just adorable – and growing so fast!
Happy 6 months, big guy! My new baby hit 3 weeks yesterday, so my favourite drink is my one daily cup of full-caf coffee in the morning to get me up and running to look after my big boy (4.5 years) for the day…
My baby is just 2 months old and we are nursing…so decaf nonfat milk lattes for me to get my calcium, or just herbal tea (pumpkin spice) when around the house. Cute baby! And nice looking pattern!
My favorite hot drink.. I can no longer drink coffee, so it would have to be a cup of strong English Breakfast tea with a splash of Tullamore Dew
hot coffee with amaretto creamer … or a fruity/herbal tea. (Current favorites are blackberry vanilla, bavarian wild berry, and acai/dragonfruit/melon.)
thanks for the opportunity to win! I’m going to make myself some tea now!
I’m not much one for hot drinks – a hot toddy when I have a cold/sore throat helps, or I’ll drink one hot cocoa a winter.
In the morning I’m a devoted coffee drinker but later in the day, especially if I can linger over it with some knitting, a cup of English Breakfast tea is perfect – and maybe a cookie or two!
I always say coffee! Lately I have been taking afternoon tea though, and I never mind some hot chocolate especially if it includes home made marshmallows!
Hot chocolate, I have to say…(and coffee and of course cafe mocha!)
And by the way….I just finished a pair of two left mitts last night! So funny that you said that. Luckily, I have enough yarn to now knit two right mitts. 🙂
Coffee, Coffee, Coffee!! Can you tell I love coffee?!
I have a Snow on Cedars kit and I really have to make it a goal to knit them this year. Baby Knitspot is adorable. I don’t need to enter as I have the kit but I’m just a plain decaf tea drinker at work every weekday morning.
I enjoy a nice cup of black coffee or sometimes an English Breakfast tea.
Great pattern and a happy baby boy….am enjoying a 5 month old grand-daughter. Thanks.
lyn41 on Ravelry
Tea, Orange Pekoe, with honey for our bees!
Starbucks Espresso Roast in the morning. Lapsang Souchong with a splash of cream and a drop of honey later in the day – smoky and a little sweet.
Definitely coffee with vanilla creamer.
I’m a tea drinker going way back to college (in the 70’s) – with cream, no sugar. Always a good way to warm up in the cold weather – we’re getting snow here in Maine today.
These are STILL my favorite mitts from knitspot I’ve made, I did handspun with mine and they are awesome. I drink mostly tea. Red Rose only, with some honey and milk.
Lovely soup…made by me!
(BTW: Everytime I look at that baby – I smile.)
My favorite drink these days is Rooibos tea, J&R brand. It’s soothing and healing. A colleague from So. Africa told me it is even given to babies there, to calm those with colic. Gotta be good for ya! Speaking of babies, Padraig is totally adorable. What a face and smile! Keep those pics coming.
Probably cafe mocha. I’ve almost got it perfected at home. 🙂
Mulled cider…or mulled wine. Either is delicious. Baby Knitspot is a little man now. Absolutely adorable. Does he have a knit sweater for these snowy days?
What a cutie!
Couldn’t live without my dark roast coffee for everyday – for special occasions, hot cocoa with a nice shot of Frangelico.
Love this pattern – have it with the yarn and still not made.. :(. I love cherry rose sencha green tea in the evenings but I sure drink my share of hot chocolate
Hot chocolate, in a nice hot mug…
Coffee with half and half and a flavored syrup. I would drink it all day long. o) Love the pattern. Padraig is just a doll and he’s getting so big!
Definitely Hot Chocolate. I prefer to sprinkle powdered chocolate and cinnamon on top. I can’t believe the baby is 6 months old already!
Best hot toddy ever: Make a quick simple syrup by heating equal amounts (I use 2 cups each) of sugar and water in a saucepan. Add some ground ginger (about a half teaspoon) and a squirt (about a teaspoon) of lemon juice, and maybe a cinnamon stick. Heat just til hot, then fill a mug half full of this mixture. Save the rest of the simple syrup for another toddy. To your mug of syrup add boiling water and as much booze as you wish (I use brandy for my husband, and raspberry liqueur, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec for me). SO GOOD!!!
Try different amounts of ingredients to taste–when you have a cold, go heavy on the lemon and ginger and maybe add some honey.
In morning, I prefere coffee and in evening, I am a hot chocolat fan!
Tim Horton’s French Vanilla Cappaccino
Like everyone else, I can’t belive how fast the time has gone. He is a lovely baby. Drink wise I like hot chocolate, but my favourite is hot mulled wine at christmas. So yummy! x
Mmmm, hot chocolate with marshmallows. Baby knitspot is adorable!
A new favorite, hot vanilla!
Try the Mexican Hot Chocolate recipe from Gifted by Mags Kandis – EXCELLENT!
If you don’t have that book, the Mint Hot Chocolate by Penzeys (www.penzeys.com) is also very good.
I use chocolate marshmallows in both recipes. And Ghiradelli choc chips for an extra garnish.
ENJOY!
Hot chocolate with marshmallows and a candy cane 🙂
I love hot chocolate with fluffed/frothed/whipped milk.
A skinny vanilla latte!
Love hot cider with a cinnamon stick. Also love the sweet picture of your six month old big boy. He gets cuter by the day…heartbreaker alert!
I love herbal tea. My favorite is Tazo “Wild Sweet Orange”. Add a little honey and you’re in heaven!
My favorite hot drink is Irish Blend Tea. Love the photo of our knitspot baby!
Hot chocolate with marshmallows. 🙂
Right before I got to bed, I love making a cup of Yogi’s Bedtime tea. It’s wonderful and relaxing. 🙂
Hot Chocolate…just plain old dark chocolate hot chocolate…
nhsarab at yahoo dot com
Favorite drink currently is tea: David’s Après Ski or Super Chocolate, or Churchmouse Winter Blend. I am on a tea exploration at the moment. The ritual of tea-making with the kettle, the pot, the milk, the mug, etc., is so alluring!
Hot cocoa with Bailey’s, or good old Earl Grey.
Hot chocolate, definitely! In a special mug, drinking with someone I love.
My fav hot drink is hot milk with a dash of real vanilla extract….mmmm so nice to have at the end of a long day!
Has to be hot chocolate. Hot chocolate of any kind. Now I want a hot chocolate, how did that happen?
Chai tea. With a little dollop of whipped cream. (Or maybe a lot…)
To fortify me, before I walk my 2 beagles in the cold and now snowy Chicago burbs, I drink freshly brewed coffee, actually 2 cups-black only! Really good coffee. My special treat is Doewe Eggberts that I have to get by mail. It’s sold from EnjoyBetterCoffee.com When I run out, or on a normal average day, I rely on either 8 o’clock coffee, Dunkin Donuts coffee or even Maxwell House coffee. Last week I was on vacation with my friends and we bought Maxwell House original coffee. I was shocked at how good it was! I have a 12 cup maker and after my husband and I blow thru this, I brew 8 o’clock K-cups in my Keurig. I found this brand makes the best Keurig coffee. Only wished Doewe Eggberts came in K-cup form.
Hot buttered rum! Using spiced rum and the recipe for the mix that includes vanilla ice cream and butter with spices! There’s still some mix in my freezer…at least for a night or two! 🙂
Hot chocolate made from scratch on a rainy day. It’s also one of the few things that I do make.
My thing is hot chocolate with my homemade marshmallows. My last batch I flavored with a tiny bit of rum, so they ended up just for me! Too bad no one likes rum the way I do! LOL
For me, it has to be a good cup of tea. Nice and fortifying — and typically English 🙂 x
Hot cgocolate for this girl.
A good cup of tea, preferably fairtrade.
Mulled wine for me please!
Hot toddy with Irish whiskey, honey and lemon.
hot peppermint tea!
Irish Breakfast tea ~or almost any Assam!
A pot of black tea, no cream or sugar!
Great pattern!
A chai latte – I’m drinking one right now!
I’m a tea drinker too. I love Constant Comment the best – orange and spices. Yum!
I’m mostly a hot chocolate girl, but I had a Cafe Italiano at the CIA in the Hudson Valley, and it was really good! It’s coffee w/ cream, brown sugar, brandy, and whipped cream. SO YUMMY!
No Microwaving for me. Heating my skim milk on the stove with a 30 year old copper bottom small sauce pan then mixing it with my Big Train Chai mix in my favorite Snowman mug. Mmmmm
A cup of Peets Coffee & Tea Major Dickason’s blend coffee black. Great anytime.
My favorite hot drink is an Irish coffee TV coffee with Bailey’s instead of creamer. Non-alcoholic drink would be hot white chocolate. I’ve only find two places that make it with actual white chocolate (not powder). Yum!
My favorite hot beverage is the spiced chai from David Scott’s “Three Bowl Cookbook”. It’s absolutely delicious, and can be kicked up or down a notch, as desired. Plus, the simmering spices make the whole house smell wonderful!
Chai latte – and I really love those mitts!
A latte held in hands wearing those beautiful mitts would be so warming! If I am not at my favorite coffee spot, I froth hot skim milk in my blender. Mmmmm!
I’m loving Chai tea or a great cup of hot. Hoc plate with a wee bit of peppermint and whipped cream or marshmallows. Baby knitspot is absolutely adorable!! Thanks for the giveaway!
Most of the time you’ll find me with Coffee. Though I have been known to step out with Hot Tea, Hot Apple Cider, Hot Flavored Coffees, Hot Latte/Cappucino and Hot Chocolate. These mitts are beautiful! Thank you!
Earl Grey tea with a little brandy. Beautiful mitts!
Coffee is my addiction…. Can’t get enough! And baby knitspot has gotten so big! Where has time gone?
Hot coffee for me with cream, please!!
Naturally, I’m going to suggest a Peppermint Mocha… but I’ll go one better and lave you the recipe too. Tastes just like Starbucks, I swear!
Ingredients:
1 cup milk, steamed
1 cup very strong coffee (4 tablespoons coffee grounds to 1 cup of hot water, done in a French press or drip machine)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons of sugar
2-3 tablespoons peppermint syrup
Whipped cream
Chocolate Syrup
Crushed Peppermints
Directions
1. Prepare your coffee however you choose.
2. Grab a pot, heat up one cup of milk until it is steaming. Froth the milk – you can just whisk it into submission or toss it in a blender.
3. In your favorite mug, mix together the coffee you just made, cocoa powder, sugar, and peppermint coffee syrup until the sugar and cocoa powder are dissolved and there are no lumps. I take the back of my spoon and smoosh the lumps against the side of the cup – works like a charm. Now you pour the foam over the top of the coffee/mocha mixture. Stir it up and finish it off with whipped cream, a wonderful drizzle of chocolate syrup. You can a bit of fun by added a candy cane to the cup or crushed peppermints to the top.
he’s adorable!!
my favorite hot drink is plain old black tea. trader joe’s irish breakfast tea wakes me up every morning.
Hot cocoa, dark please. Sometimes a giant marshmellow on top, if you want extra sweetness. Think I’ll go make some now.
I drink tea morning, noon and night! My fav is David’s Tea.
Hot vanilla chai tea. 🙂 Yum!
Pumpkin Spice Latte… hot chocolate with marshmallows….. both are my favourite.
I love many hot drinks. But if you force me to choose just one…I’d go with strong black tea with milk. My husband brings me a cup of tea just like that in bed every morning. I’m a lucky girl.
Having recently had a heart attack I am now struggling to find hot caffeine free drinks that don’t taste like they were mowed up in the yard…I love coffee in the am sweet and white and the hot chocolate at bedtime with a shot of flavored creamer…alas those are now pleasures of the past…I’m learning to enjoy Honey Vanilla Chamomile tea at bedtime but still can’t find the right thing for mornings.
I want to cast on these mitts right now so I’m not sure I’ll wait to see if my name is drawn as the winner…I’m just a bit impulsive that way 🙂
My favorite daily hot drink is an organic dark coffee with organic cream! For a treat I through a little Baileys in there in the late afternoon. ( :
Earl Grey Tea with a splash of cream and sugar.
Loose brewed green tea with honey/lemon/ginger mixed in
I love a hot chocolate with amaretta added for a little extra inner warmth. Yum. Add a few freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and I am in heaven!
Home made Latte: Fresh ground espresso beans run through the espresso machine (no kcups here!) steamed 2% milk with a dusting of ground chocolate on top in a big 20 oz mug…last through my first hour of knitting!
Spicy Chai with a generous portion of milk…would love to win these mitts! Thanks for the chance to…
Stay warm and cozy!
I’m not big on hot drinks, I often get overheated by them. If I have a cold I drink lemon ginger tea with honey. If it is very cold out I drink hot chocolate!!
Baby Knispot is very cute! Great smile:)
Mango passion hot tea
I love my morning coffee but hot spiced cider is a real treat!
hot tea (at the moment) just came across a really nice caffeine lemon tea, by lipton. and then, of course, there are lattés….
I am a fan of many kinds of hot drinks – decaffeinated, caffeinated, hot toddies all included. But, my favorite splurge is a well-made cappuccino 🙂 Great question!
For a recent cocktail competition I created a hot chocolate drink that got me 3rd place! I used real hot chocolate- hot milk with bittersweet chocolate dissolved in it. Here is the recipe:
Hot Carl
1/2 cup good hot chocolate
1/4 cup whiskey (I used Jamison)
1/8 cup caramel liquor (I used Godiva)
Pinch of salt
Whipped cream
Caramel sauce
Mix the hot chocolate, whiskey, caramel liquor and salt in your favorite mug. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with caramel sauce. Enjoy!
I love a latte any time of the day! Super cute baby 🙂
Strong black organic coffee for me, not any of the flavored stuff either. Can’t be bothered with having to keep fresh milk and sugar in the house.
In the evening: decaf coffee, add one packet of no sugar added hot cocoa mix (love the GFS brand), a splash of sugar-free caramel syrup, and a splash of half and half. Tastes like a decadent coffee shop drink with less than 100 calories!
From the first mug of green tea DH brings me in the morning, have a mug of green or white tea or green/white fusion with me all day. End the day with a mug of Trader Joe’s Well Rested herbal tea while I knit.
Hot Chocolate. Or if needing more the hot toddy line….Apple Cider warmed and a bit of something added (Grand Marnier, bourbon, some apple brandy….just what is about that would blend/complement….)
I love a hot cup of tea. But on snow days or two hour delay days l drink a Keurig hot apple cider.
I love a hot Salted Caramel Mocha from Starbucks – yum!
Strong, hot, black tea. Ummm…. put the kettle on.
I am not hard to please. Hot coffee…hot tea…hot chocolate….all are good to me!
Definitely chai tea. Yum!
Homemade mochas!
Harney and sons hot cinnamon tea. With a wee bit of sugar. I hope I win! I live in Troy, MI. You would save on postage! Win-win.
Hot Chai Latte with Tazo Chai as the base. Now I’ve got my tongue curled for a mug, off to the kitchen…..
And I love that pattern!
First cup of manual drip coffee in the morning. Nothing like it!
I usually go with Chai Tea. Although sometimes a Bailey’s and hot cocoa is just right. Happy Knitting!
Great pattern! Great picture of your little boy!
An Oxo cube or packet dissolved in hot water.
Earl Grey hot tea.
Decaf, herbal hot tea!
Time flies for babies doesn’t it?
Hot tea, my current favorite flavor is ginger peach.
When I have a cold, or am not feeling well, it is green tea with a teaspoon of honey and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. But all other times, I am a coffee girl through and through. The stronger the better!!
Hot chocolate with a splash of butterscotch schnapps.
Hot ginger sun! Yum.
Just a simple cup of hot tea makes me happy. Although I wouldn’t say no to hot chocolate with a hint of peppermint.
Hot chocolate with a healthy dose of Kahlua. Whipped cream on top of course. Beautiful baby!!!
hot tea… just simple, hot tea.
(beautiful pattern!)
Chai tea with milk! Yum!!
Constant comment tea. It was only for special occasions when i was young.
Coffee, Earl Gray, Hot Dark Chocolate, Spiced cider, Hot Dr. Pepper. Really, anything that warms my fingers when the snow flies. I adore winter!
Gluhwein with sliced lemons and oranges with a stick of cinnamon and couple cloves. Yum!
Mine would be hot apple cider… reminds me of my childhood in Minnesota!!
hmm- special treat lately: hot chai tea with some Rum-Chata mixed in. mmmmmm. and those are lovely mitts. My current obsession is knitting mitts including teensy ones for my 2 year old niece who wanted some!
Love these wrist warmers.
My favorite hot drink is green tea.
Hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows and a flake to dip into it – as long as I have my knitting right there with me, too!
My favorite hot drink is hot cocoa, very chocolately hot cocoa of course. I would love to become a tea drinker as I have a vintage Hall teapot that was my mom’s and several teacups that she collected. I do love iced tea, just haven’t found a tea that I like to drink hot.
Favorite hot drink – coffee with hazelnut cream. Almost like a cappuccino. Coffee and a chocolate flavor – what could be better. I can’t believe Baby Knitspot is 6 months old, it doesn’t seem possible.
Ummm. Numi Organic Chocolate Puerh Tea. Delish!
