a faroese sibling for the icicle dream stole—all the same motifs in a slightly-different arrangement and overall shape. this time in a lighter colorway straight from the center of an iceberg.

this piece was originally published in the winter 2008 issue of twist collective

i’ve said it before but i’m always happy to say it again: deb kessler is a dye genius and i am always grateful that we met and collaborated and continue to work together. please visit her etsy shop for a closer look at her lovely work.
once again vanessa (AKA, flamefingers) continues to give by enthusiastically knitting the samples that appeared in the twist article and in these shop photos. how many shawls is it now, vanessa?? hee-hee!

and many thanks to david for these photos, taken during his “headless” phase, but beautiful, nonetheless.

  1. Every time you post a finished project, I think to myself that this one is certainly your best.

And then you post the next one, and I change my mind.

Oh my goodness! You are the Queen of Shawls! It’s simply divine!!! I wish I could knit them as quickly as you do!!

  2. That’s gorgeous. I’m knitting one in handspun yarn, and it’s coming out very lovely, if somewhat slowly. I think I should go knit now. 🙂

  3. Oh god, how can I decide between the two!!! I think I might have to go for this one…and actually get the same yarn for it, I just love this color!

  4. lovely ! that colour is so you. and that is the most convincing faroese i have seen so far. thanks !- i never knit one before because they always looked so podgy but you have really turned it into something graceful.
p.s. if your interested in a german cable needle (fine size) send me your addresse and i’ll pop one in an envelope for you. maha

  5. I absolutely love this. Have been thinking about it since it went up in Twist. Faroese is my favorite shape of shawl to wear. I need to do this or Lacewing next. Still pondering, stewing, dreaming. Sometimes that is the most fun part! I love seeing your creativity come alive on the blog.

  6. I’ve never made a Faroese shawl, but I do want to try one, and I think this one is quite lovely. Beautiful work as usual, Anne! Have a fantastic weekend!

  7. Breathtakingly beautiful…and knit in one of my very favorite colors! I’ll never live long enough to knit them all…I want every single one of them! I feel like a kid in a penny candy store (wish we still had them…they were great fun!).

Thanks so much for sharing your gifts and inspiring the rest of the world! Happy weekend!

  8. OMG, the yarn color is so appropriate for the name. It is amazing how you are able to come up with these beautiful patterns all the time.
