Craftsy: The Ins and Outs of Grafting

Posted on Posted in projects

I bet a lot of you were thinking to yourself, “will Anne be releasing another Craftsy class?” The answer is yes! The Ins and Outs of Grafting is now live and it is full of tips and tricks. She shows you how to invisibly join stitches to create seamless motifs and mirroring effects.

The best part of this mini class? It’s FREE! How cool is that!? All you need is about 25 yards of DK yarn, US size 6 and 7 needles, and stitch markers and you can sit in front of the screen and watch Anne’s online class from anywhere.

I’m not going to spoil the class for you, but if you were desiring to knit

Hillflowers

Miss Doolittle

Boxleaf Wrap

Gobi Hat

(from BNK club 2012; available in the ebook here)

Twinings

this class would be invaluable when it came to finishing the piece. Anne has a way of explaining techniques that make them seem effortless.

Anne’s 1st Craftsy class, Button Bands and Buttonholes, was released last month.

If case you missed the details about her online class, you can read this post. And in case you were dying to take this class and you hadn’t signed up yet, leave a comment below by 9 pm EST May 11 and I will draw one lucky person to get the Button Bands and Buttonholes for FREE!

I’m so glad that Anne is able to offer online classes for those of us that can’t seem to make it to her teaching events. These two classes are fantastic and I hope there are more Craftsy classes to come. I swear, Anne is making me confront all my knitting fears. One class at a time…

  1. This is just the class I need to help me take my knitting to an entirely new level.

  2. I love Anne! I love Craftsy! And I have a cardigan waiting to be steeked that needs buttonholes!

  3. Wow, this would be amazing. I would like to learn more. Thank you for the opportunity.

  4. It’s so cool that Anne is doing these on-line tutorials now. I keep missing the shows and events where she teaches. I think either one of these classes would be a great help.

  5. *headdesk* I wish I’d seen this post earlier. I finished knitting Peu de Pluie last night and grafted the two halves together. Kitchener stitch isn’t hard to do, but it can be a challenge if you’re using a dark color yarn and/or grafting lace. I used Bare Naked Breakfast Blend in Earl Grey, which is pretty dark. My graft job looks respectable, but it is just a hair on the too-tight side. Blocking has helped minimize that a little bit. I will soon start Miss Doolittle, and I will definitely watch the video before I do the grafting on that one.

  6. Looking forward to taking the grafting class. Have added button class to my craftsy wishlist. 🙂

  7. It would be awesome if I was the lucky winner. I just started Sprossling despite being intimidated by the button bands. It is such a beautiful pattern. I finallly caved and figured that I had to master these button bands at some point!

  8. I already took the class so please don’t enter me for the draw. Just wanted to say how brilliant it is. Anne is so generous with her knowledge.

  9. Fingers crossed! I’ve yet to take one of Anne’s classes, but I bet they’re darn good!

  10. A good knitted buttonhole is hard to find! I would love to learn more and so enjoy that you share your noggin with us all with offering classes and this is yet another way to reach many of us! Thanks!

  11. Haven’t tried a craftsy class yet, this would get me moving in that direction!

  12. I have knit for years! I tend to stay away from items that require bands and buttonhole because I don’t like how my look when I get them done. I would love this class!

  13. Anne’s directions and explanations are absolutely the most cogent I’ve ever heard, seen, etc. I would love to win this drawing!

  14. I’m knitting my first cardigan. The body is 97% complete, and this class will provide great information for the button bands. Thanks for offering it and this drawing.

  15. Woohoo!!!! Of course I would love to win this Craftsy class for free, but even if I don’t, I LOVE IT that Anne is now on Craftsy with her wit and wisdom.

  16. What a nice giveaway. I’m never happy with my buttons and button bands!

  17. I have taken both classes and was thrilled with what I learned. And although ZI will not be using the graphing today, I can always go back and rewind the class when I need to graph something with texture or lace. Thanks for coming to my home Anne and showing me some cool secrets. I really enjoyed the visit.

  18. Winning this class would give me an invaluable tool to use! I love Anne’s work and I am sure her Craftsy classes are awesome! In fact, I am going right to my Craftsy site to sign up for her class on grafting as soon as I post this comment:)
Thanks for offering this give away!

  19. Ooooh I have seen their classes before but haven’t had the guts to buy one in fear of not being able to knit it properly :/ one day ill try it!!

  20. I’d love to learn more about buttons and buttonbands from Anne. Her detailed finish work is what makes a sweater look like it’s been done by someone with serious skills.

  21. My first online class ever was Anne’s The Ins & Outs of Grafting and it was brilliant. So great that Anne is on Craftsy now. Thank’s for the opportunity.

  22. It would be wonderful to win the button and buttonband course, something I surely need! Now off to check out the grafing class! Thank you!

  23. Sounds like just the class I need for an upcoming project. Thank you.

  24. buttonbands always frighten me. My first cardigan (finished this past February) I chose to put in a zipper rather than deal with button placement and making button holes!

    I would love this class!

  25. Button bands! I have a horror of them, and could certainly use the class! I can graft the toes of socks, but have always been too chicken to try a pattern that involves grafting lace.

  26. Yay for Craftsy! I have been eyeing this class and have already pounced on the free one.
