it’s growing . . .

this is a picture for susan; she’ll know why. susan, let me know what you think by leaving a comment below or email.

i don’t really want to talk about my olympic project incessantly, but i think a quick daily update is a good thing (read: i am exhausted from working for the last 14 hours and can’t think of what else to talk about). i thought it would be kind of funny to photograph it daily as it grew on the circular needles because it looks like bread dough rising, or jiffy pop gone awry. here it is monday after day 2 of knitting:

i had just started the second stitch pattern and the medium gray yarn (see the new ball of yarn?). it is about 22″ square. then i took it off to the yarn store where i taught classes all day. i got some more done there, but not as much as you might think. just being IN the yarn shop does not mean i get to knit! my classes are fairly large and i have to keep moving. however, i DID get a lot done after i got home at night. i walked in around 9 pm, put my feet up, got my knitting out, and turned on some podcasts i’d been saving to listen to. aaahhh, that was just right. i quickly got into my knitgroove and hit it. all told, for day 3 of knitting i added 6 more inches to the square’s width you can kinda see how much i got done by what’s left on that ball of yarn:

the medium gray is icelandic and the other 2 grays are shetland. it’s amazing how different they look up close (the up-close pictures didn’t really show it, so i can’t show you). the icelandic has a blurry quality that i am falling in love with. i might have to get more to make something just out of that alone.
the rounds are getting longer now (i think i am somewhere around 500 stitches per round right now), so progress will seem to come to a shrieking halt! and today, i did not add on anything YET. time to get away from this computer and relax (yeah, that’a it, relax by racing my way toward gold!)

tomorrow, it’s books, podcasts, and other stuff we like!

  1. Hi Anne,
The purse is so cute! What type of pattern did you use? Yarn? Is it handspun? Your work is lovely and I’m enjoying watching the icelandic and shetland grow.
Anxious to read your next blog.

Keep up the beautiful work – love your blog!!
