power full

doncha just love happy knitters?
debbie brought two FOs to class today . . . one is the leaflet scarf she’s sporting above, knit from fearless fibers superwash merino sock in the envy colorway—isn’t that cute?

(sorry about the blurry photo debbie, it was the best of the bunch)
and then she pulled out her pride and joy . . . an oh! canada stole knit up in ball and skein artisan merino/silk

it was a nice class. we even had lights.
the morning class did not have lights . . . our power started flickering around two in the afternoon yesterday and finally went out last evening. this morning we still didn’t have any, but knitting doesn’t really require electricity, so we held class anyway. i was just getting nervous about the food in the freezer when it went on.

phew. gotta hang on to those tomatoes, you know?

another thing that doesn’t require electricity is blocking—just wet, squeeze, and go.

mmmm, this one blocked out beautifully and quickly in the larger gauge . . . just look at that juicy yarn color

another one of judy’s yarns, this one is the new sirena and it knits up a treat.

we just need to snap a few nice photos and it will be all set to go . . probably tomorrow, yay.

as for my own knitting, i didn’t get all that much done today once i’d caught up on email and stuff. but i’m off now to put some inches on my stole . . see you next time.

  1. I love the way that blocked out!! It was pretty before blocking, but now it’s just so much fun 🙂 (Ah, blocking magic strikes again…)

  2. Oh I like it so much better now that it’s blocked! Not that it wasn’t pretty, but man blocking sure helps!

  3. I know this wasn’t in line with what you were looking for as a name for that scarf (and this is why I didn’t mention it when you asked for suggestions), but every time you show it, I can’t help but call it Light and Shadow (or vice versa) in my mind – this is really what it evokes to me.

  4. Please let Debbie know that she looks fab in the Oh! Canada! What a beautiful job and a fantastic piece!

I love the scarf. The play between the open work and the figure is wonderful. Thanks Anne, for another beautiful little pattern.

  5. I just had to add that I too love the colour of the sirena wool. It’s gorgeous. I have a real hankering after shades of orange these days, don’t know where that came from but it is the colour that is drawing me in.

Beautiful knitting by Debbie. She looks smashing in her scarf and stole.

  6. wow does that look fun all blocked out! i’m not a big fan of orange typically, but it’s perfect there.

glad to hear you have lights (and safe tomatoes)! our power was out just over 25 hours. my mom was getting worried about her freezer – jams, berries, beans, etc. – but the neighbor that owns taggarts had hired a freezer truck to store all the restaurant food and his wife came over and offered to let us use some space for our freezer stuff, so we’re good now. (and i’m really happy the power’s back on for my random day off…!)

  7. Your new scarf is fantastic. I can’t wait for the pattern. I can’t believe I missed class on Monday which leaves my September empty!!!

    See you on October 6!

    And Debbie S’s FO’s….awesome!!!!

  8. Jester looks great all blocked out like that! I really think it’s the pattern for my out of character purchase of Sangria CamelSpin. I just hope the yardage I have will be enough. And Debbie’s FOs look lovely!

  9. I LOVE the soon-to-be completed shawl. I like laciness, but I like the substantial look of this leaf shawl and can hardly wait to see the final views of it.

  10. those blocking photos makes the scarf look even better than before! funny how blocking really pulls the stitches into shape and defines them. they look almost etched now.
