crazy quilt scarf

Posted on Posted in patterns

oh boy, do i love this scarf—it turned out yummy!
if i wasn’t so excited to be sending this off to the the red scarf project, i’d be very tempted to keep it in the house, though david might fight me for it if i did.

i’m hoping against hope that it looks soooo luscious to you that the pattern is a must-have, to knit one for yourself or for another.

WHY?

because all the crazy quilt proceeds from now through december 31st 2011 will be contributed to the foster care to success red scarf fund.

the fund was created to helps kids who have aged out of the foster care system to achieve the goal of finishing a college degree. the fund provides and administers scholarships, life guidance, and help with handling the challenges of higher education.

so—plain and simple—please buy a pattern to benefit this cause.

and hey, if you want to knit a red scarf to send to the project as well, i will personally administer big hugs in your direction next time we run into each other. and—because i’m absolutely shameless—i bet david would too.

you won’t be sorry—this is another super-fast knit with a lot of bang for your buck. it’s handsome for a guy or pretty for a girl and cozy for everyone. and the perfect fit—if you need a gift in a hurry, or want a spare “just in case”, this pattern is your new best friend.

shown here in the spectacular briar rose kindness, a soft merino singles wrapped with a brilliant silk thread, in the magnificent red scarf colorway.

chris at briar rose fibers has dyed up a bunch of her this luscious red—truly to die for and will give you 10% off until december 31st if you use the code knitspot when you check out.

(hee-hee, doesn’t david look handsome today??)

yeah, he’s rockin’ that re-e-ed scarf alright . . .

many thanks to each of you . . . and merry, merry to all.

  1. LOVE THIS SCARF DESIGN.
AS WITH THE HAT, I WAS FOILED WHEN I CLICKED ON THE LINK TO GET THE YARN. I HOPE THE BRIAR ROSE LADY WILL DYE UP SOME MORE FOR US. I EMAILED HERE. ANN, YOU ARE READ BY SO MANY PEOPLE, THE YARN SUPPLIERS SHOULD DYE UP AT LEAST 100 SKEINS OR MORE WHEN YOU PUT SUCH DESIGNS ON YOUR BLOG. HOPE I WILL EVENTUALLY GET THE HOLDA AND THIS KINDNESS IN THE COLOURWAYS. SUSAN

  2. Yes, a must-have both for the beauty of this pattern and the kindness of your knitting heart…I have my pattern purchased and my homegrown yarn already dyed red, so I can’t wait to start. Thank you for your generosity to such a good cause!

  3. I love the pictures of David downtown. You are right this is such a quick project. I’m just about done with mine, will block it tonight. Then it’s off to Red scarf project and some deserving student.

  4. Did you come downtown for the photo shoot? Love the scarf and had to have a skein of that red Kindness 🙂 Perfect for next football season – one can never have enough red and grey scarves for Dover football.

  5. Anne, what’s not to love? A great pattern, a very worthy cause, and a hunk modeling that very beautiful scarf. David looks smashing!

  6. OK, can we just arrange for all your patterns to go directly into my Rav library (and set up a direct deposit arrangement? LOL!)? Such a great scarf, and it looks brilliant on David 🙂

Chris is out of the red (natch), but I do have some red in my stash that would work for the project. Stash diving…

  7. Excellent photos, love the pattern (and your found tomatoes from yesterday). Off to get the pattern, get or find some red yarn, and will join you in sending a scarf to the project!

  8. Great photos. David looks very distinguished. And that red suits him. You may have to make one for him to keep, Anne.

I’ve already ordered my yarn from Chris. Should be her in a day or so. And then I’ll cast on. I love that you support the Red Scarf project. Such a great fund.

Off to buy the pattern, and I may gift a few on Ravelry. : ) Hugs to you and David.

  9. Love the scarf! One of many patterns I will be buying from the Knitspot shop before the year is out. Hopefully Chris @ Briar Rose will have more of her wonderful holiday red yarn back in her shop soon.

  10. $6.00 is such a reasonable price for this picture of David. What? It comes with the scarf pattern too??! Such a worthy cause — thanks so much for this Red Scarf Fund inspiration!

  11. What a great inititive! Very generous of you. How can I resist buying a pattern? such a gorgeous scarf.

  12. So beautiful! I’m not a scarf knitter (except for those little nothings) but I might be tempted for this one.

  13. Love the scarf. I screwed up and haven’t been able to make a scarf for the Red Scarf project this year but I am going to start earlier and make 2 for next year.

  14. I love this scarf! I love that it is unisex and I love the red color and I love the cause. David models it stunningly too.

  15. David looks great in that color red, not to mention the hat! He makes a perfect spokesmodel. I bought the pattern (for next year) and hope that there will be more of that red yarn.

  16. Can I buy David for $6? No? Well dang. I’m sure he’d be a bargain at any price. I’ll just have to go with the pattern purchase then. 😉

  17. I got to use this yarn for Voluta in the current Twist Collective, and I love, love, loved it. I love it even more in red (but then, red has always been my favorite color). The thread of silk makes it catch the light so wonderfully. It is a unique, amazing yarn, and as always in your designs is matched with a stitch that really shows it off.

  18. Love the new scarf, and yes, David looks very handsome in these photos 🙂
It’s very generous of you to donate to the Red Scarf fund–I’m going to click over and buy the pattern right now! You might like to read a wonderful book I just finished, “The Language of Flowers” by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. The story centers on a young woman who ages out of the foster care system. I loved it!
