broke, but happy.

as of 10 pm this evening, the matching fund is empty, and the extra li’l bit my mom sent is gone, too. claudia even emailed me to say that she is spending all her free time trafficking your contributions. then she emailed and said she was going to need to increase the goal amount. yowza.

that’s just 72 hours. three days. you made me a poor girl.
can i just say that you guys hang the moon for me?

now, even though the matching fund is empty, i still want to hear from you because we have an awful lot of nice prizes to give away, and those who email me to say they gave will get their names in the hat. you can find the rules for playing here and if you scroll down that page, you’ll see the prizes.

there are 18 days to go and plenty of time to send money to claudia.

i’ll still keep a running total of our contribution as a group if you tell me what you gave. at this point, i’m curious! as of now, we, as a group have given well over $4,300. IN THREE DAYS. and that does not count the numerous undisclosed donations (about 15% of respondents).

thank you again everyone, for your continued support of these events, and to all the prize donors for making it a fun way to give.

ahem . . . er, i really don’t have any pictures today—i totally forgot to take any. but it’s pretty much the same as yesterday—the bee shawl is bigger and the tree scum sock is to the start of the heel. and i admit, i’m too tired to think up anything clever tonight.

must go knit . . .

  1. My motto is to give early and give often. I gave the first day, and I’ll probably give again closer to race day. Please don’t enter me in raffle for the prizes, though.

Wanted to let you know that you were absolutely RIGHT! I’m about three repeats into the fir cone chart and the 6s are spot on! I love the pattern and I love the yarn and therefore I love you! Thank you so much!!! (I’ll be blogging about my progress tomorrow.)

  2. I haven’t yet made my contribution, and that’s perfect because I just thought of something as I finished reading your post… You know what? I’ll simply add to the amount I was about to give the extra dollars you would have given because of my donation if there was still something left in your fund. The end result will be the same, and I won’t have contributed to sending you to the poorhouse! 😉

  3. Wonderful! You have been sent broke in a good way. You did a good thing including Claudia’s ride on your blog. Yippee! Only time I have been happy that someone is broke.

  4. The folks who say the computer age will turn us all into anti-social recluses don’t know what they are talking about! The sense of community when folks share a common outlook is simply amazing. Way cool, eh?

  5. Tears of joy are a good thing. Knitters are an amazing group of people who, to paraphrase Stephanie, know how to get things done one step at a time, one donation at a time, which grow into incredible results. Now how did we learn that?!

  6. Here’s to strong women everywhere. May we know them, may we raise them, may we be them.

Rock on sisters (and brothers!) Together we can change the world, one person at a time.

    Blessings!

  7. I contributed early on – I have a friend with MS so I was pleased to join in but it is so FABULOUS that she has exceeded her goal. hmmmm – hope I remembered to let y’all know I got in on it – wouldn’t want to miss my opportunity on such great presents!!

  8. I feel so honored to be a part of the group that made a part of the $4.3k possible. I am so proud to be a knitter in this day and age!
